Captain Corky's Rockin' New Years Eve

Please Note: We here at Corky's log do not recognize Ryan Seacrest, Mario Lopez, or any other pretender to the thrown. When it comes to counting down the last minute of any year, we always go with Dick Clark.

2007, or The Year of Captain Corky is about to come to a close and it's been a great year. The Colts won the Super Bowl, we moved, had a kid, and I bought lots of action figures under the guise of them being for Max. I'm sure he'll play with them too. Yep it's been a great year.

Am I sad that 2007 is ending? Yes.

Do I think 2008 will be just as good? Yes.

Will I probably win the Powerball in 2008? Probably yes.

Will I buy more action figures in 2008? Of course!

Am I still mourning the death of Yvonne Decarlo? I am, but at least I can see her on TV Land. Every day.

Oh yeah, great news folks, we got a new toilet! Have you ever used a brand new toilet that no one has ever sat on but you and your wife, and now a close friend? It's an amazing experience! One of the greatest experiences of my life. The porcelain... it's so clean and cold. I love it!!! Makes me wanna go take a dump right now. Maybe I'll go get a bag of Sliders. Yum!

Happy New Year Folks!!!

Home for the Holidays

I heard a rumor that Christmas is in three days! I'm not sure if I heard it on the Internet, television, or You Porn, but I know I heard it somewhere, and I think it's probably true because there's a fake Christmas tree leaning lopsided in the middle of my living room right now.

We're finally in our new place and I plan on posting a few pics of the joint after the holiday. Life has been crazy for us over the past two weeks... However, I finally got a chance to catch my breath last night when I went to sleep at 8 and woke up at 8 this morning. Been a long time since I've slept like that and it will be long time until I sleep like that again. It was a glorious night though.

There are lots of things I love about the holidays, like getting presents, getting presents, and getting presents. That's what this whole ting is about right? I could spend the rest of this post speculating about all the fine gifts that Allyson is going to give me, but I have to keep this post relatively short. Right?

Besides spending time with loved ones and making merry, my favorite thing about Christmas is going outside sometime after midnight and listening to the silence of Christmas night. That's what it's all about for me. It makes me feel hopeful, and I do it every year no matter what condition I'm in or where I'm living. Sober, drunk, high, sick, in a red carpeted family room, on a roof in NJ, in a martial arts studio in DC, or in my new old Kentucky home, it really doesn't matter. I imagine a peaceful world, and I feel a hope that this world so desperately needs.

Merry Christmas my friends. God Bless Us Everyone including all of you Jews, Muslims, atheists, agnostic crackheads, and especially all of the lovers and the dreamers.

And Now a Brief Message from willSix

Good Morning, fellow Corksters. willSix here. It appears that our beloved blog Captain has taken a temporary hiatus from blogging for reasons that remain double-secret probation confidential (*cough* sex change *cough*).

My bloggy brethren, the Christmas season is upon us, which, for Jews like me, means looking forward to delicious Chinese food, blissfully empty movie theaters, and a desperate, empty sensation of exclusion and loneliness gnawing at our insides. However, in the spirit of the Holy Spirit and all that, I thought I would share with you my absolute, 100%, without-a-doubt favorite Christmas song. It's a little ditty by the Pogues, who fracking rock.

Apparently, there was some controversy over this song in merry old England this year. I would comment on it, but I really don't need to, since this guy says it better than I could anyway.

This, too.

I would tell you more about Captain Corky's strange disappearance, but then Dick Cheney would have to extraordinarily rendition you.

Happy Christmas, babe.

Christmas thoughts with Captain Corky

I used this picture last year in a piece I did about gum. Next year I'll use the pic again, but I'm not sure what I'll write about.

Things I still haven't done yet:
1. Gone Christmas Shopping.
2. Taken out the garbage.
3. Finished painting the new house.
4. Gotten the electric turned on in the new house, because the City House Inspector is an asshole, who doesn't return phone calls or communicate effectively.
5. Jumped out of an air plane, and I never will. I prefer all of my highs to come from liquids, pills or plants and fungus.
6. Oh... and I still don't own A Christmas Story on DVD. I was so embarrassed when I watched it a couple of weeks back and had to watch it on VHS.

Favorite Christmas Movies:

1. It's a Wonderful Life: Definitely one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time excluding certain Star Trek, Superman, Star Wars, and X-Men movies.
2. A Christmas Story: Give me a break! The movie's a masterpiece.
3. Love Actually: I was so enamored with this flick the first time I saw it in the theatre. I can't say that about a lot of movies, excluding certain Star Trek, Superman, Star Wars, and X-Men movies.
4. Miracle on 34th Street: Great movie. I can't stress enough how much I love movies starring Maureen O'Hara. If you ever get a chance you should check out Mr Hobbs Takes a Vacation starring Jimmy Stewart and Maureen O'Hara.
5. Another Christmas Movie: I always leave this slot open for all the other Christmas movies I love.

Favorite Christmas Songs:

1. I listen to Christmas music all year round cause I'm a freak like that.
2. Honestly it's too hard for me to come up with my top 5 without giving it a lot of thought.
3. Go here and here to sample some of Captain Corky's favorite holiday and every day music.

Shit. I've gotta get to work.

Two Weeks

Ladies and Gentleman,

On Saturday we spent almost 4 hours getting pictures done. During those 4 hours we did a lot of waiting, picking, posing, and feeding. I know I fed at least once or twice while we were there.

In other news, the reason that I haven't been around as much as I usually am is because we're moving in two weeks. That's right folks, not only does Corky get professional pictures done two weeks before Christmas, but he also uproots his family and moves from shitty, cramped, out grown apartment, into a three bedroom home with basement, and lots of potential, four days before Christmas.

Theoretically.

So fear not, I will be around plenty, and I plan on taking lots of before and after pics of the house, but I'll get to more on that later. How many days until Christmas?

Holy shit!

My Collection

I can't believe it's Tuesday already. I feel like I lost yesterday.

Anyway, I finally started that stamp collection I've always dreamed of having. So far I have five 41 cent Jimmy Stewart stamps. Not bad, right? Do you think they're worth any money yet? Anybody wanna make me an offer on one of them? I guess I could let one or two go for a 100 bucks or so. It never hurts to make a little extra cash during the holidays, know what I mean?

Unfortunately. I'm going to have to put my stamp collection on the back burner for a while. I have a major project coming up on Friday that will take be basically right up until Christmas. Stamp collecting sure was a lot of fun while it lasted though, and I hope one day to start collecting up again.

On Saturday we're getting professional pictures of Jr done. I waited until December to do this. Why? Cause I'm genius...
