Crazy

This has been a very crazy year. I wonder if next year will be even crazier or just as crazy. I highly doubt that it will be less crazier.

I can't really explain why it's been so crazy, but it just has. I'm sure you could just as easily fill in the blanks for me. I know you know what I mean. I sincerely apologize if you don't. It's not you, it's me.

But seriously, this has been a great year for me and my family. We saw things, did things, and said things.

On Thursday I'll be eating with family, watching football, and drinking. What more could anyone ask for? That's the question of the day and currently I have an expert named Jay working on it.

In Which I Appear To Be Having a Good Month

No, really, I took the test as "willSix". The bar examiners were shockingly cool with it.

1st Haircut

We took the kid to get his first haircut a couple of weeks ago. We went to one of those joints that are tailored for kids. They had a TV and a DVD player at every station, candy and a few small toys etc.

Every single barber chair was designed like a 25 cent kiddie ride, Max's was a firetruck for example.

The haircuter asked me what DVD she should put in for Max, and because They didn't have Bonanza on DVD I settled for Elmo's World.

We put Max in the firetruck chair and the screaming commenced immediately. The haircuter promptly turned into a witch and made me put Max in a headlock to keep him still while she cut his hair. When Allyson and I went to comfort Max the witch made us stop and said not to comfort him cause it's only going to make it worse. The witch made some reference to her kids while she was torturing ours, and my heart broke in two, cause I can just imagine how rough those kids have it over at the witch's place.

Here's the thing, both Allyson and I knew it was probably going to be a pretty rough experience for Max getting his first haircut. How did we know this? Cause we have a computer and books at home and we research this shit! Well, really Allyson does and I take all the credit. ;)

But the Witch was talking at us and acting like we had no idea that it was going to be... a little rough on Max. That's my biggest issue with her.

It cost us 20 bucks and they said that Max should come in every 4-6 weeks. Um... I don't think so. Once or twice a year's good for now.

Amazing-Man

We here at Corky's log wish to express our sincerest congratulations to President-Elect Barack Obama on landing the Presidency of the United States.

Last night is a night that I will never forget, but just in case I do, I've decided to record some of the finer points of the evening:

1. I woke up at about 5:30 PM.
2. My wife went out and got three bags of candy.
3. We fed our son, played with him, gave him some milk, and put him to bed around 8:30.
4. We opened the bags of candy (Starbursts, Sour Patch Kids, and taffy or some shit).
5. I proceeded to steal as many of the red and pink Starbursts as I could leaving Allyson with mostly the lemon and orange ones.
6. I got a dirty look and was banned from the bag of Starbursts.
7. I blinked and CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, and ESPN called PA and Ohio for Obama.
8. Around 10:10 I got ready for work and stuffed my sweatshirt pocket full of Starbursts.
9. 85 percent of the Starbursts I took were lemon flavored and as a result are now sitting on my computer desk at 6:38 cause I barely ate any of them.
10. Right before all of the major networks called the election for Obama I left the house for work.
11. I got to work and did my job a little better than adequately. I drank two cups of coffee and only pissed once.
12. Allyson left me a message on my phone while I was at work saying that the people in our neighborhood were celebrating by lighting off fireworks and honking their horns.
13. I'm home now and waiting for my son to wake up.

Novermeber 4th, 2008 was an amazing day for America, and I'm very proud of this country.

The Last Day of Last Month

Max's costume went over really big at the mall on Halloween (especially with the broads).

There were tons of Batmen, Supermen, Spider Men, Iron-Men, princesses and one or two frogs, but Max was the only Harry Potter that I saw.

As it turns out the Zoo was closed when we pulled up at 5:00 o'clock on the 31st. Clearly the brochure lied to me about there being a party on Halloween, and what kind of Zoo closes at 5 PM on a Friday anyway?!? I'll never go back! I swear. No Lions, tigers or bears could ever make me.

But the mall on the other hand... I'll be back tomorrow and the next day and the next day and the day after that etc. Lots to do and see at the mall this time of the year! I'll make sure to go after 5 on weeknights so I don't miss all the people who work during the day, and I'll put in 12 hour shifts on the Saturdays and Sundays leading up till Christmas . That way I won't miss anything unless I can' t find a parking space.

A Special Thanks to my good friend, Erika and my lovely wife, Allyson for helping me realize Max's Halloween costume by making it.
