Another highlight of my vacation was the 4 hours I spent in New York City with my wife and in-laws. We spent 3 and half of the four on the Circle Line boat tour of New York. It's definitely the best way to see New York if you only have an afternoon to do it in. I certainly wasn't going to take my mother in-law to my old stomping grounds, " And this is where I used to buy acid Sharon."
I really learned a lot from the Circle Line tour guide. According to him a lot of movies get filmed in New York City, lots of famous actors and actresses have lived and live in NY, and sooner than later there's going to be nothing in New York but Condos. Very informative. My only complaint about the tour is that I felt that the New Jersey side of the river got neglected a bit.
I think I also learned that the guy who designed the Eiffel tower had something to do with the Statue of Liberty, but I wasn't really paying attention... I was in line trying to get a hot dog. Plenty of great junk food on the Circle Line.
I've got plenty more pics that I will be posting on, Shore Leave in the next couple of days.

Nice pics.....my ex bf's parents tv was bigger than me...I was in TV heaven when we where there.,....whahahaha:)
I was in New York city once. It was fabu. I loved Central Park, and the hotel that we stayed in was very posh. ( We won a contest or something).
HiDef TV sounds good, but I'm afraid if we had one that Hubby would watch anything and everything. Everytime we go to the mall, he's like a moth to a flame at the Sony store.
All of the lost husbands end up there.
3 down, 87 to go.
We have a hi-def tv, but it's only a 37 inch.
If we ever sell that damn house, we're celebrating by buying a bigger one!
Love the pictures! I've never been to NY and really want to go.
As for Eddie Van Halen...have you seen the pictures of him that have been out lately? He looks worse than Keith Richards! Dude doesn't even have any TEETH! EWWWW!!!!
I've never been to NYC. Someday I will go there though.
Glad you had a great trip Corky.
When I go to places like Best Buy I stare longingly at the all the big screen HDTVs. I think the LCDs are actually better than plasma.
I was just in NYC on Sunday too. Eddie is a freakin' mess. If he wasn't as talented as he is, he'd be Leif Garrett hoping for a shot on some VH-1 Celebreatlity show.
Glad you and Mrs. Captain Corky made it home safe. It was great to see you guys again, even though we never get to spend enough time together. Sylvie had so much fun she spent the rest of the night talking about you both. Being only a year and half, only she knew what she was saying, but from what I could make out, I think she liked spending time with you guys, too.
For those of you wondering why EVH missed his induction into the Hall o' Fame because of rehab, here's why.
I took my sister to NYC during the "storm of the century" and the japanese tourists who were supposed to be on our super cheap harbor cruise bailed out, so we got upgraded to the glass-wall ship, live orchestra and filet minon/ champagne dinner.
My sister thought we were the coolest.
Little did she know we had actually paid for the cheesy-basement level tour.
We got some fantastic pictures, and met some great people though.
Welcome home, Captain!
Sounds like a great trip! Can't wait to see more pics!
I had an especially hard time leaving because of Kim Jong Ramone's Hi-Def Vizio. I pretty much envision Heaven being a lot like KJR's living room... Multiple couches, digital cable, and Hi-Def TV. Who could ask for anything more?
Uhh.. the spice channel? ;p
so thats where kjr is. thats explains everything. so how's that tv look? i mean... is it as orgasmic as everyone says those vizios are?
oh yeah and nice trip. hah
I desperately want to go to NY but WP refuses to take me :/.
The boat tour sounds awesome!
"And this is where I used to buy acid Sharon."
Classic
Mmmmmmmm...Hi-Def boobies are delicious!
Welcome back.
I've taken a lot of river tours in a lot of cities and for some reason the script never changes.
NY is FAB though. I'm glad you had a good trip.
i hear that there was a shower around the corner from my house that I was conspicuously not invited to... Im a little sad about this. How many appropriate opportunities could there possibly be for us to meet face to face? Its cool though... I didnt want to buy you diapers and onsies anyway! Hrmph!!
Yay, Corky's back, Corky's back....Corky's back in town!
And yes, Louisville lost. (giggle)
J.
According to him a lot of movies get filmed in New York City, lots of famous actors and actresses have lived and live in NY
No kidding?? Holy shit! I guess I'll have to garner the bravery to cross the Hudson and go over there one day. :)
Yay Corky!!! So glad the Captain is back in the Captain's chair... It is hard getting back to it after a few days like that, but still... we need our Cap'n Corky!!!
Sounds like you had a great trip. I have never been to NYC and that is high on my to do list.
I didn't know you were in NJ last week?!?! Wow, sorry I missed you. Maybe we can get together next time around.
Sounds like a pretty good trip. I flew over NY once but that's as close as I got.
I had not heard about the Van Halen brothers skipping the induction. It seems to me they were the foundation of that band through David Lee Roth and Sammy. Oh well. Rock stars gotta be rock stars.
I'm scared of NYC! Jethro wants to take me some day and I'm like, NOOOOO I'll melt but I figure if Biddie can make it there, I'll make it anywhere, or something....
As for Van Halen, oo boy, I"ve been composing a huge thing in my mnd for a couple of weeks! It's gonna be massive! And I can't write it today because I'm helping my friend trailer her horse to a new owner. Stay tuned.
I submitted my poem to Poet's Corner and it's up today. Thanks for suggesting that! :)
Every time I see a display of hi-def TV's, I have to hold myself back from buying one. I need to wait for a while. It's hard...
Welcome back sir
the 80s called eddie v. again. they want their hair back.
LMAO "and this is where I bought acid Sharon." My would-be mother-in-law would drop dead if she knew HALF the things I did.
Um...GOOGLE Eddie Van Halen. I can SEE why he wouldn't want to go ANYWHERE. He looks about SEVENTY these days. And UGH, those TEETH! It's just so sad...
You felt the New Jersey side of the river was neglected?
I guess NJ's finally getting the recognition it richly deserves.;)
