Saturday night is the most relaxing time of the week to me. It's when I like to unwind, read the paper, and sip my tea. When I was a kid Saturday night was the best night of the week for television, because Star Trek, Emergency, The Love Boat, and Fantasy Island were on. Arguably the greatest line up in the history of television. Saturday night television has never recovered from the cancellation of The Love Boat in 1987. Good thing for me I started going to to clubs, drinking, and dating broads or who knows what I would have done. I guess that's a lot of the reason why I did start drinking and using drugs in the first place. I just couldn't cope with the loss that the Love Boat left in my soul. No more happy endings by hour's end...
A lot of stuff has happened to me between now and 1987. Feel free to read about some of it in the archives or you can even make some shit up if you want. Whatever floats your boat.
It is now 2007 and Saturday night is tomorrow. I think I may have finally found just the thing to patch the hole in my soul that The Love Boat left. Rockdog's radio show, Rockdog Unleashed! It airs every Saturday night at 12:00 AM Eastern Standard time. It's much better, and funnier than that horse shit Saturday Night Live. Who watches that show anymore? After the radio show, which is a half hour, Rockdog usually hangs out on his webcam and has a therapy session. It's good stuff. Last week it was just me, Rockdog and some fucking freak that just likes to watch Rockdog at his computer, but we had a good time. You should join us. Oh and feel free to drink as much as you want, because at least when it's time to throw up you'll be doing it in your own toilet bowl or maybe on your rug, but who cares. ;)
Now Rockdog isn't Issac the Bartender, but he's the next best thing. So if you're not going to a rave to do some Extacy or sleeping by 11:30 PM because you have the mindset of my 94 year old grandmother, then come on over and listen to the Rockdog. I hear he's going to have a very special show this week.

Look at those teeth! They're blinding!

LOL!!! I'm no Isaac...Gopher maybe???
A special show you say? How could I possibly stay away?
Sounds like a good time. :)
*sigh* I SO miss 'The Love Boat' and 'Fantasy Island'....
I'm thinking Corky Jr's middle name should be 'Tatoo'. ;-)
I LOVED that Saturday night lineup! We even got to have home-made pizza AND eat in the living room.
If you recommend Rockdog, I'm there. I think it would be like 8:00pm MST?
OK, Cap'n Corky...This is Swampwitch coming to visit to try to entice you to play Fun Monday with us. The only rule about Fun Monday at my place, is there are no rules...At least stop by to see the list of those who dare to bare their shelves and garages. Great fun ! Happy Summer. Happy Weekend.
Hoosiergirl5: I'm a big fan of Isaac's moustache myself. ;)
Rockdog: You can be Gopher, but I get to be Captain Stubbing.
Biddie: Make sure to check it out (and byob). ;)
Karma: You should joint us. I'll be drinking for sure. ;)
Pissy: Those were two really great shows. TV will never be the same...
Lady K: Rockdog better deliver now that I'm staking his ass. His last show was pretty good though so I'm not too worried.
Swampy: Thanks for stopping by. I'll definitely check you out.
I'm sorry did you just trash Saturday Night Live? DID YOU JUST TRASH SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE????
I was so excited that we drink the same tea and then you go do some ballsack move like dump on my favorite television show????
I miss Love Boat, too. I used to watch that every week when I was a kid...:(
This post was OUTTA SIGHT!
I loved Love Boat. I wanted to be Julie McCoy, maybe because I'm bossy. And she hooked up with hot dudes occasionally.
TRUE STORY: hubby's cousin was a congressional intern back when Fred "Gopher" Grandy was a rep for Iowa. He was in an elevator ride with him and another intern go on the elevator and said "Ledo deck please" and apparently Gopher doesn't have a sense of humor, he got that guy fired.
Asshat.
I remember the 3rd graders telling us 1st graders that after midnight Emergency would show dirty episodes about like a kid that got a pencil stuck in his butthole. I later discovered those 3rd graders were full of shit. Never trust 3rd graders.
You're right about the Love Boat man. TV has gone straight down hill from the day that show was canceled. It was a dark day in America's history.
So is Rockdog now Mr. Saturday Night? I think I'm going to start calling him that.
I sooooo loved Emergency and Love Boat. Johnny Gage was so HOT (or so I thought at the time). I cried when both of these shows went off the air. I still watch Star Trek old reruns. I am a trekkie through and through and have passed this love on to my son..it is the one thing he likes to watch that I can stomach..lmao.
I still love SNL. There. I said it.
Yum...that's my favorite tea too! I like mine with lemon!
Lord, could the man look ever more cheesier? Sheesh...
Sorry dude...I have to go to a rave with your grandma and take some extacy so that I can stand watching her bed all the young men in the room by 11:30.
That was what you meant, wasn't it?
Oh and it is sooooo cool that at 24 you were the first to bungy jump into the grand canyon.
Too bad about the broken rope thing.
But you've recovered well!
xx
pinks
Thanks for the heads up Corky. I'll have to check him out.
*Sigh* that's past my bed time :(
Isaac used to have a mural on the side of Albe's skate shop in Royal Oak, Michigan. it was cationed "everybody knows that Isaac shops at Albe's!"
Nothing like bow-tied bartenders kicking ollies over garbage cans. Funny blog, Captain.
Wow! I never thought to use Isaac as a promotional face...
Mr. Saturday Night...OUT!
RockDog Unleashed! Saturdays at Midnight (EST)
I just tried to smile like Issac the Bartender. Not a very natural smile. I think it's the same one my squirrel uses.
Kat: The show needs a big time overhaul. But I'll always love my tea, and of course you too. ;)
Beader: I miss the stability that the Love Boat brought to my life, and of course the guest stars too.
Sunshine: I'm always disappointed to find out when an actor turns out to be a real asshole. Especially someone like Gopher. He was the real life blood of that show.
Furiosball: I was a third grader once, and definitely not trustworthy.
Jay: It's taken me almost 20 years to get over it. I guess once it's available on DVD I'll finally be at peace with it.
Canadian Flake: I plan on having my son watch one episode of Star Trek for every two episodes of Sesame Street. I think that's a fair bargain. ;)
Cherry Ride: I admire your courage. It's not east to admit that. Especially with the current line up.
Jenny: I like mine with ice and sometimes diet tonic water.
Laurasia: I don't think so.
Pink: The rock imprint on the side of my head is hardly noticeable.
That's it.
I'm going as Isaac for Halloween this year.
I was going to go as Captain Tenneal from MXC.
Whim: Cool! I hope your signal is strong on Saturday night.
Blancodeviosa: That's cool, but if you decide to go on an alcohol binge and drink all night, you know where we'll be. ;)
Eric313: Thanks for stopping in. I bet Issac can do a mean ollie.
Rockdog: Can't wait to hear the show. My wife's water better not break tomorrow night, that's all I'm saying.
Cheryl: Careful, you good do some permanent damage trying to smile like that. ;)
Beefcake: I think you would make a great Issac, and Alicia could be your Julie McCoy. Just tell her to stay away from the coke. Lauren Tewes blew every dime she made from the Love Boat up her nose.
Oh I totally can relate..I loved Sat nights too. Love Boat and Fantasy Island "da plane. da plane" awesome
Well, Love Boat did seem fun back in the day. Having the mindset of a 60 year old grandma, I will probably miss Rockdog at least most Saturdays. Is Saturday Night Live still on? I used to watch it regularly; then, I was tuning in to watch just the opening bit, which was usually the best part.
I never got into the Love Boat. I liked Fantasy Island and TJ Hooker on Saturdays though.
I quit watching SNL when my crew got old and moved on. They said the things we were thinking and the musical guests were usually worth waiting for.
I really do need to catch one of his shows. Only it's not going to happen tonight.
I got a birthday to drink for tonight :)
I DO miss love boat and Fantasy Island.
I think they are working on a fantasy island movie?!!?
did you enjoy Isaacs triumphant return to tv? He was in VH1 Celebrity Fit Club!!!
He also writes an advice column for maxim or something
You can take Isaac off the boat but he will always be a star!!!
Hey, strange things happen when you make another run.
Are you a daddy yet?
I don't think I've ever said it before, but welcome to fatherhood.
Palm Springs Savant: Life will never be the same...
MJD: Fear not, It's archived every week. But I completely understand if you don't want to do any permanent damage to your brain by listening to it. ;)
Metal Mark: TJ Hooker was the shit. It brought a tear to my eye when Leonard Nimoy was the special guest star.
Gawilli: I stopped watching the show when It stopped making me laugh.
Chucky: His show kicked some major ass tonight. I, however, had nothing to do with it.
Birdman: Remember Finders's of Lost Love? That was a good show. Too late though. 10 years earlier it would have been perfect.
Beefcake: Not yet. Within the next 3 and half weeks for sure! Thanks for asking!!!
I forgot about that show emergency, I loved that!!!
I haven't been the same since "Love American Style" went off the air.
Oh, delurking through Jerry because I wanted to know why it was so hard to type your web address
I was a Three's Company girl growing up. I even had the Janet hairdo in 6th grade. back then, I didn't realize she was the dorky one. :)
I don't know that I have ever recovered from losing Emergency. I still see paramedics and it takes me back...By the way, look up some Julie London music -- she was Nurse Dixie and her voice is GREAT (and my great I mean sultry).
I'm always lookin' out for ya buddy!
Cazzie: I really loved that show when I was a kid.
Anonymous Boxer: Thanks for stopping by. I just wanted to get your attention, but some folks say that I'm special. ;)
Webmiztris: I still watch that show from time to time. I like Janet, but I really like Terri. She was hot.
Michael C: I wonder whatever happened to Randolph Mantooth and that great name of his...
WTF?? Who is the guy who likes to see Rockdog sitting at his computer?? Is it that "#1" guy?? I remember there is always some anonymous freak on there... Well I had to miss Rock's show the last two weekends due to extenuating circumstances, but I will be there with pasties on next week (just kidding) lol
You know your snarky comment about the "94 year old grandmother" mindset and the 1130 pm bedtime?
I will be laughing and taking my revenge as soon as Corky Jr. arrives! ;)
