Raw Fish

I had Raw fish for lunch on Saturday and it was fucking delicious! I enjoyed it even more than the cured beef and bagel sandwich I had for breakfast Saturday morning, and lunch Friday afternoon.

You probably had a bologna sandwich for lunch on Friday. At the very least I hope you put a piece of cheese on it. But really... you can do a lot better than bologna. Treat yourself to something nice for lunch today. You deserve it and- you're totally worth it my friend.

Yesterday was the first time that Allyson has been able to eat raw fish since she pissed on that marvelous stick way back during the first weekend of November 06. I think I had sushi one time after we found out that Max was on his way(besides that one lost week in March where I ate sushi with every meal). I think I can safely speak for Allyson by saying she was in heaven yesterday.

The cucumber roll you see on our sushi platter was ordered by Max's Auntie Cindie. Despite the fact that she desecrated our beautiful platter with that vegetable, it's really nice to have her in town and it's been great spending time with her. My sister and I have gone through our rough patches in the past, but I've never met anyone who appreciates Television more than I do except for maybe her. Last night we watched at least 4 episodes of the Honeymooners, quite possibly the greatest sitcom in the history of television. Believe it!

Besides watching TV, we've been feeding Max, changing Max's diaper, eating and shopping, shopping and eating, and shopping while we eat and, eating while we shop. Lot's of great new stuff for Max including some more action figures for his collection and formula for his gut.

hey now, the cucumber roll is one of my favorites..don't kill the cucumber roll :)..
yes, you had sushi,..and I, well, I ate about 10 triple fudge costco mini brownie things-boy do I feel guilty.
always,
Crusty~
P.s. you have a strong wife giving up sushi for the pregnancy-I craved it terribly while pregnant-and did cheat-SHOCK!THE HORROR!HOW COULD YOU!-on occasion with the cucumber roll (Felt "safer")
:)shshsh, don't tell my m.i.l-she'll blame the disposition of my middle child on the fact that I ate sushi while pregnant. :)heehee

CrustyBeef: We heard that many Japanese women eat sushi while they're pregnant. It was mostly a guilt thing that prevented Allyson from eating it. I think it's one of the best foods a person can eat.

All that shopping is making CJ look so much older. Boy, he is growing!

Max is STILL adorable (as if it could change). I ate hot dogs on Friday. I don't eat mammals usually, but I was at work and we had a cookout and I was stranded at a park for 4 hours. I guess you'd eat anything if you were hungry enough.

But, the figures he got; seriously, diversify.

captain corky said...

Leslie: Leaps and bounds. He'll be 4 weeks old next Friday. ;)

Hoosiergirl5: Sushi is definitely in my top 5 favorite foods of all time!

Nikki: There was a sweet 90 dollar Harry Potter Lego set with all of the characters at Target, but I'll just have to wait till next time to get them for him. I've got tons of figures myself. X-men, GI-Joe etc. I may let Max play with them someday. Maybe.

Max is getting cuter and cuter with every picture posted.

Sushi = almost heaven

Jenny! said...

Dude, is that a diaper behind his head??? Don't you know those go on the ass!

Sushi grosses me out! Maybe I just need someone who knows what's good to eat it with...yuck! Please tell me you don't like caviar!!

nikki said...

Don't do it. Don't let him play with him. WHY would you think that toys are for kids??? My son is always saying, "You know that guy in your room that you haven't played with? Can I get him out?" HECK NO YOU CAN'T GET HIM OUT DESTRUCTO-BOY! Poor kid didn't even know I had comics under my bed until I showed him Ghost Rider books when the movie came out.

nikki said...

Oh and on a serendipitous note, I was just looking up GI joes before coming here. (yes, I'm a dork)

i went all of a shiver when you said you ate raw fish, i dont like it cooked never mind raw, yeah i know you going to say i have no taste!!!

I detest fish, but my hubby talked me into trying veggie rolls and I LOVE THEM. Now we can go to Sushiland and eat.

Your son is cuter in every picture!

BTW- I think you have tapeworm.

Jay said...

Dude, I never figured you for a sushi kind of guy. I'm a little surprised really.

I've never really been able to get into sushi. My sister tried to killed me with it once. Oh sure, she says it was an accident, all that wasabi to dip it in. I didn't know it had a kick to it.

Anyway, now when I go to a Japanese restaurant I have steak and let everybody else eat sushi. Of course, I do down a bunch of that rice moonshine the make too. ;-)

Tink said...

Mmmm. Eel sushi is my FAVORITE. Hoop and I OD'd on it about 6 months ago and haven't eaten any since. But that picture is making me reconsider.

Anonymous said...

Sushi is one thing I have never had, but probably should give a try. Willi and I love all manner of seafood. Oysters on the half shell are the best. Honestly I don't think I have ever been anywhere that serves Sushi. We will have to remedy that.

Keep those pictures coming!

Molly said...

Max is bigger and stronger in each and every picture. For now, I will pass on the raw fish. Heck, I was not even adventuresome enough to try bison instead of beef at Ted's Montana Grill this weekend.

Pud said...

You know....I don't know enough about Sushi to just go out and eat it on my own. So maybe one day I will try it.

Your son is adorable!

Billy said...

My mom makes the best sushi. Except we don't call it sushi. We call it kim bop. I'm half Korean, but love all of the Korean cuisine. If you ever get a chance to try it, please do. I think you will like it.

Cheryl said...

Nice picture of the sushi. That's about as close as I like to get to it. I just don't get it, which is OK. I'll take the corned beef.

How is Max doing? I see from the picture some sort of tubing. Just wondering...

Big Pissy said...

Max looks good in red! :)

I've never eaten sushi....guess I should try it, huh?

AfKaP said...

Love Max in the Green baby seat! Five favorite foods - I'd put sushi there too along with chocolate cake, a good thick crust veggie pizza with anchovies and hot peppers, mangoes and maybe white peaches. I love that Thai iced tea too! Korean food is great Bul go gi is to die for!!

jAMiE said...

I'm really not a finicky eater but sushi....bleck! I've never tried it but just the idea of it turns my stomach... i think i'd pick out all the raw fish and eat the rice.

I've never been to a Japanese restaurant...i think i need to get out more.

Max looks darling in his red/white and blue stripes...cute!

Sushi rules, but I like tempura veggies and that weird mee-so soup and tepenyaki or however you spell it with those crazy guys who throw scallops and shrimp around with their utensils. LOL You guys should come down here, I have the PERFECT place for that action!

Max is an ANGEL! I am SOOOO smiling for you over here, Corky Senior!!! :-D

Queen of Dysfunction: Hopefully soon we'll get a chance to party like rock stars again. At least while Grandma is watching Jr some night (hopefully in a couple of weeks, not that I don't love my kid).

Nancy: I could eat it every day for every meal. No joke.

Jenny: No caviar for me. I don't like champagne all that much either. It's surprising because I love just about every other kind of fire water there is.

Nikki: My sister and I have a massive collection of GI Joe figures in our parents basement. I was a pretty big dork back in the day. Still am actually. ;)

Her Indoors: Chocolate Birthday cake sounds delicious!!! Can you pass some my way? :)

captain corky said...

Karma: The more you eat it the more you will like it, and you will actually start to crave it. Guaranteed.

Beader: I haven't eaten bologna in at least 20 years. But I do love hot dogs. There's really not that big of a difference is there?

Pink: I would love to wake up next to that platter every morning, along with Allyson and Max of course. ;)

Christie: I like the way your husband thinks! I started Allyson on Cucumber and California rolls.

Any suggestions for a name for my pet tapeworm?

Jay: I don't discriminate when it comes to food. I can eat Sushi or I could eat I Spaghettios and be equally as happy. I also love hot Saki.

captain corky said...

Tink: I love Eel sushi. It's what got me hooked in the first place.

Gawilli: The older I get the more I appreciate seafood. My is a master chef when it comes to cooking fish. Catfish and Salmon are her specialties, but she's also cooked fluke, and Bluefish.

MJD: I always thought scientists liked to experiment... ;) I don't think I've ever had bison before.

Pud: Welcome back!!! Glad you're safe and sound. And thank you for the compliment.

Abbagirl74: I'll have to try it. I had Korean food for dinner Friday night and it was amazing!

captain corky said...

Cheryl: Corned beef is good too. Yum!

Max is doing great! That picture is actually from the day we took him home from the hospital.

Big Pissy: It's really good. You should try it someday.

Purpleworms: Korean and Sushi are both in my top 5. I like pizza too, but I'm a snob when it comes to pizza and it has to be from New York or New Jersey to make my top 10.

Jamie: Thanks. Japanese food is really clean and healthy, but it's a bit expensive too.

Lady K: It's too hot out there. You should come back to this part of the county. By the way, for some strange reason every time I see you I want to either drink a glass of water or go swimming. The desert is hot!!!

Cazzie: Thanks. We love out little Max. ;)

are you still wearing your superhero hospital band the wonder woman of bands? Or did you cut it off?
Silly question..but I saw Max's band and it reminded me of my bigdog-he'd keep the thing on until it fell off on it's own.
Always,

I eat sushi once a week, Cap'n. I have recently discovered a deep and abiding love for fresh salmon, which I never new existed. I think that's what I like the most about eating sushi regularly - discovering that things you thought you didn't really like are actually fantastic when done right.

I love the pictures of Max. Please keep them coming. Mrs. Six and I are extremely excited to meet him. He is a beautiful, beautiful little guy.

Agree on the Honeymooners!

Boy, Max is as big name for such a tiny bundle. LOL! He's adorable.

Ok- sushi- the concept is so disgusting. It terrified me. Then I ate it. Holy smokes is that stuff good.

Remember when you claimed that your next baby would be born at home, thereby avoiding all the hospital drama? (I was on dial up back then and couldn't comment because it was taking ssooooolooooong) Anyways. The Boy was born at home. Luckily we had no complication with the birth and it all went real friggin fast and we were happy. I highly recommend it. Unless you have problems. Then don't.

Gotta say...that is a good looking baby!!

It's my first visit here and what do I see YUM sushi AND a cute baby boy! Congratulations on both items.

Sushi is not available here which is bad. I like sushi and my mouth is watering as I have just realized I haven't eaten dinner. I must go forage in the kitchen now.

Man, I do love some kinds od sushi, but ost of the time I order the tempura battered beep fried mushrooms, caulifloour and onions rings/chips. Something about it... probablt ate too many great lakes fish. I'm a Tennesssee boy at haert; you can move me to Detroit, but I'm still going to try and find some Catfish action, or a Black Bass spot. They aren't as big up here, but the Muskelunge (five foot to keep, it has a mouth like a barracuda and will bite if you don't club it to death), Pike (same deal, a bit smaller) and walleys (wimps but good fun and eating) make up for it.

I miss the south. My friend Justin moved to Hot Springs Arkasas to inherit his dad's contsruction company. I have a permament invite on making a thousand to two thousand a week doing whatever. And what the hell do I do? I stay in Detroit, enrolled at Wayne State U in the heart of Downtown D, making jack squat unemployed, but loving life because I'm a writer. After the Bachelor's and Master's in English, maybe. But then again, after that and I'll just teach at a college for my cash.

Good luck!

Monk: Tuna is what life's really all about.

We're loving every second of Max!

Crustybeef: Crusty. It actually started driving me crazy. Especially when it would get all wet after a shower. I did wear it for 14 days in the hospital, and that might have a lot to do with why it was driving me so crazy. I probably would have kept it on had we gone home after three days.

Justin's Mom: I tried to convince Allyson to eat California rolls and Cucumber rolls so that I could get some tuna and salmon, but she wasn't having any of it. ;)

Heather: If you had written that you hate superheroes, now that would be blasphemy! ;)

Biddie: Thanks! Shopping is fun as long as long as you get what you want and get in and out.

captain corky said...

Canadian Flake: No problem, after all what are friend for? ;)

Rockdog: Sure beats the days of Ramen Noodle Soup, that's for sure.

Jenny: Exactly! Champagne tastes like vomit.

Biddie: Glad you noticed. ;) I just ordered 100 bumper stickers. Want one?

Madame X: It's a bit of an older picture. I'm pretty sure we took the arm band off as soon as we walked through the door.

captain corky said...

Nonny: You are sister. You're so worth it! ;)

Willsix: I can't wait till we get to hang out with you guys. The future is going to be a lot of fun. The present isn't so bad either.

I love Salmon! Right now Allyson is going through a Salmon phase herself. Glad to see you back! Cursed Law School... ;)

Debs: I hear Bison is good, but I've never had it. At least not that I'm aware of anyways.

Metal Mark: I think you would get hooked on it if you tried two or three times.

Crabby: The Honeymooners are fantastic! My grandfather was 6 feet tall. A big guy with an ugly grill. His name was Max. LOL Either way I win.

captain corky said...

Heidi: That story is truly amazing! Thanks for the compliment. :)

Peggy: Welcome! I like to use raw fish and babies to lure new readers. People are such suckers for uncooked tuna. ;)

Canadian Flake: Thank you! I'm going to spend the rest of the morning catching up on blogs while my baby boy sleeps.

Dilling: I love camping too. I haven't gone in such a long time and I've been jonesing to go really bad. I love starring at fire while I'm drunk, Is there anything better?

Gina: That actually surprises me. I thought for sure you would like Sushi. All it takes is one or two times and you'll start craving it. Really.

captain corky said...

Aunt Jackie: Japanese food is the best, and it's good no matter where you are.

Mighty Dyckerson. I forgive you, Corky Jr forgives you, and Jesus forgives you! All three of us knew you before you were in the womb.

Heavy Machine Office Duck Boger: I actually thought about putting the cape on. I probably will when nobodies looking. ;)

Birdman: Given the choice between Steak-N-Shake or Sushi, you would take Steak-N-Shake every time! That's just how you roll. Freak!

Eric: I started on cooked eel myself and then I tried Tuna a couple of times, and then one night I started craving it, and the rest is history.

captain corky said...

Dr. Kenneth Noisewater: Good point! Leaving Jr out would be wrong. I plan on feeding him tuna when he starts eating food.

Chucky: Actually, I'm kind of disappointed at the response to this post. I thought it would have generated at the very least 1000 comments. ;)

Eric313: It's great that you are doing what you want. I really enjoy writing too. It's changed my life really. I also love to eat Catfish. And I've caught some really nice fish here in Kentucky.

Corky, I showed my kids Max's picture and they both went, "awwwwwww". I expected that from my oldest, but not my youngest. oh, and share the sushi, dude!

The only way I could deal with anything on that plate was if it wasn't wrapped in seaweed. Oh yeah, and didn't have fish! Sounds like fun, though.

BTW-I caught not one, not two, but three episodes of Scott Baio is 45 and Single. I LOVED IT! I might need to download Huey Lewis and the News for my ringtone, too. I wish I had cable.

I also wanted to add that my life may change drastically after today. Why, you ask? Because now I am going to live by the "What Would Corky Do?" mantra and I can tell things will really change.
