My Collection

I can't believe it's Tuesday already. I feel like I lost yesterday.

Anyway, I finally started that stamp collection I've always dreamed of having. So far I have five 41 cent Jimmy Stewart stamps. Not bad, right? Do you think they're worth any money yet? Anybody wanna make me an offer on one of them? I guess I could let one or two go for a 100 bucks or so. It never hurts to make a little extra cash during the holidays, know what I mean?

Unfortunately. I'm going to have to put my stamp collection on the back burner for a while. I have a major project coming up on Friday that will take be basically right up until Christmas. Stamp collecting sure was a lot of fun while it lasted though, and I hope one day to start collecting up again.

On Saturday we're getting professional pictures of Jr done. I waited until December to do this. Why? Cause I'm genius...

Aw, can't wait to see the new pics of the little one! :)

I think that you waited until December to get Christmas pictures taken because you are a people person and knew that there would be HUGE crowds of people that you could chat with. Good luck with that and enjoy. I have a 9mm if you need it... ;)

Guilty Secret said...

Are you gonna put him in a little Santa outfit?

Jay said...

Do you think it's legal to put brush guards on a stroller? That would be fun at the mall. You could crash into anything you wanted. Or anyone.

And maybe some off road tires.

And maybe a sound system.

And maybe something to simulate the sound of a big Dodge diesel truck.

That would make the mall much more fun.

I'm thinking baseball card collecting might be more lucrative than stamp collecting. But, what do I know?

P.S. Jimmy Stewart was a great American!

I have (thanks to a great blogger friend) a Special edition Elvis stamp. It's the only one I have ever collected.

Good luck on your project.

I had a stamp collection when I was very little but never kept it up.

Good luck with the professional photographs [make sure that parents wear light clothing - it's a very hot and bothering experience.]
Cheers

I love how you disguise your porn collection as a 'stamp' collection. Very creative, Corky. Very creative.

dilling said...

My stamp collection is one sheet of Audrey Hepburn stamps....that's it.
We haven't done our photo yet, either...and since that's all anyone in my family gets(what else would the NEED, really?), I guess I better get to it...

Michael Colvin said...

I guess you lost most of Monday because you spent it gazing at your stamp didn't you?

I think your next stamp should be the special edition one of Jean-Luc Picard kicking Wesley Crusher in the balls. I hear it is worth a bloody fortune!

Good luck with your project!
Ho! Ho! Ho!

I'll come round and take pictures of Junior for ya ....

Just say when!

oh i cant wait to see the photos of Max, well worth putting the stamp collection on hold, dont think you will lose to much money if you dont start to sell the stamps just yet!

Speaking of stamps ... I just sent out my Christmas cards today - the first day of Hanukkah - and made sure each of them had the Eid stamp (commemorates the two most important festivals—or eids—in the Islamic calendar). How's that for diversity?

Looking forward to the Max pics, but would really enjoy seeing the mom and dad after the event pics even more!

nikki said...

My kids are 6 and 10. I haven't learned yet to get the pics done early. Of course, I usually get them printed that day so I can just be done with it. Good luck though.

Biddie said...

Yeah, are you and Allyson getting in these photos?
You have my address, right? I'll be waiting.

Enemy of the Republic said...

You had better post them! Sorry I haven't been around--busy as damn.

So what's the project?

I can't wait to see the pics of Jr.

Hello Christmas cards!

Too bad you can't continue the stamp collecting. Jimmy Stewart was a total babe.

I have superhero stamps. But I don't collect them. I use them to mail my electric bill.

I have a suggestion for your second set of stamps. You can have stamps with your own photo put on them - there is a website called stamps.com that does it for a small fee. I think you or Jr. on a stamp would rule!

Melissa said...

Have fun with the pics! Hope you are going first thing in the morning when Max is well rested....:-)

You currently have five more Jimmy Stewart stamps than me. That is spectacular! You have such devotion to Miracle on 34th. How do you feel about It's a Wonderful Life? It's no Philadelphia Story.

Lady K said...

GOTS to love Jimmy.

It's just like you to keep me hanging about your new project.

And I can't WAIT to see new pics of Jr!!!

And uh, yeah! You're a genius...

:-D

HAR said...

Enjoy those pictures. One day you will look back and be so happy that you did them. Even if you did wait until the last minute. ;)

Ms. Tuesday said...

Where is Jr getting said pictures taken? I know Sears is the old standby, buy I gotta tell ya, one of the Targets by us has a photo studio and they did a smashing job on our angagement photos for like half the price of sears!

Good Luck. May he smile and gurgle and not cry at all.

Stamp collecting is actually something we do here...but we have that stamp.

Can't wait to see the pics of Junior.

Just so you know, pals like you have their very own page on my blog now, The End of the Universe Bar...I got bored and have reworked my blog.

I also took Rockdog's challenge today.

Have a good one Captain.

Energize!

You know I can't remember the last time I did a family portrait. I should do that next year with my brother and his daughter as a gift for my mom. I bet the Jr. photos will look adorable, the photo set backgrounds are always priceless.

Fun for all!

Yes, Jr's always taking fab photos. I can't wait to see them either. I feel sorry for you taking pics in December though, that's a great reason to be a professional photographer about now! :)

Funny how long your stamp collection stint lasted... sounds about like how long I can hang onto one project.

Cheryl said...

My father buys stamps because of his addictive buying disorder.. Lots of stamps. We kids wind up buying them and then adding the extra postage for the current year's rates. Oh boy are we gonna have fun cashing in all his stuff one day. Not!

Big Pissy said...

Can't wait to see the pictures of Jr.!!!! :)

That's one mighty handsome stamp to start off your collection with. I liked what Cheryl said. I have a box full of them that were my mom's. I probably should do something with them I suppose.

Bring on the pictures of junior!

Umm, Corky? Are you there? I'm little worried. You usually have a witty come back.
I am having Corky withdrawls...

Been there done that - used to collect stamps when i was younger. U can add mine to your collection... if I still have them that is. I keep thinking I put them in the attic, but the weird thing is, we've never had an attic... ?

Kat: Jr on a stamp would totally kick ass. Me... I'm not so sure of. ;)

Melissa: Originally we were, but Allyson is working so it will be later in the day. Gulp!

Ashley: It's a Wonderful life is on of my all time favorite movies. I like it even better than Miracle. ;)

Lady K: I'll fill you in very, very soon. ;)

captain corky said...

Har: Great point!

Tuesday: We're going to some place in the mall. Reasonably priced. Don't worry, Allyson investigates often. ;)

Corky- you know you can go to stamps.com and have custom stamps made with corky jr's picture!!!

I dont know how many times my mum used to tell meoff for the mess I created with my stamp collecting. I would have a bowl of tepid water to soak the stamps off the paper..a tea towel to sit them on to dry..some paper towel to dry them off thoroughly and some books specially made with little clear envelopes to put them in to protect them. My favourite stamp had our Aussie coat of arms on it..and the next favourite one was one with a Tiger on it from Korea....a massive tiger.

I can't believe you'd part with Jimmy Stewart stamps. I had a major crush on him for years until I realized he was the same age as my grandparents.

Bright and early write us a post. If you don't have a new post, you won't be able to channel all the negative energy to Tom Brady and make him bungle his pursuit of all records.

Peace out
