On the other hand

I Love Donna Reed. I really love Donna Reed! Clearly, the most beautiful woman ever conceived by the midichlorians. Just imagine what it must have been like in heaven the day that she died? St. Peter must have said something like this, "Jesus Christ! He didn't even make this much of a fuss when his own son died".

It's a Wonderful life is the cream of the crop when it comes to Christmas movies. There has never been a better one made. Ever. Holy shit... I just has the scariest thought of my life! What if Hollywood announced that It's a Wonderful Life was being remade, starring Ben Affleck as George Bailey, and Jessica Simpson as Mary Hatch Bailey...

Believe it or not, there are still people on this planet who refuse to watch It's a Wonderful Life. Why? I don't know. I personally know at least two these heathens. One of them we all know very well, and the other one is my wife's best friend, Erika. What's up with that? It just doesn't make any sense. Is it because of the title or the fact that the movie is in black and white? Please explain your aversion to this movie. I want it for the record.

For those of you with a personality and strong moral fiber, I think you'll find it interesting that there's a cameo from Alfalfa Sweitzer in this movie. He's the guy who opens the pool up while George and Mary are dancing in the gymnasium. That tidbit of information comes from one of the few special features on the It's a Wonderful Life DVD. There are also a couple of trailers and a documentary or something.

How can I end this post with out talking about Jimmy Stewart? I can't. He's great. One of the finest actors in the history of film. Willsix does a really mean Jimmy Stewart, and there is no greater feeling in the world then running through the streets of Louisville or Washington DC in December, drunk as a skunk at 2 o'clock in the morning, while screaming out, "Merry Christmas you old builiding and loan! Merry Christmas Bedford Falls!

I own this movie on VHS, but my vcr broke and now I can't even watch it for my Christmas marathon. I think I'll get a new vcr just for that. Either that or just spend the money replacing it all with DVD's. Then again, if I did that, I'd spend WAY more than it would cost for a new vcr.

Happy Friday!

I've never seen this movie in its entirety...I tried twice and fell asleep both times. Forgive me for I have failed...

Is there a colorized version with maybe a cool rock n roll soundtrack? Let me know...Mmmmmkay?

Turner did colorize it, but people hated it so much they only show the black and white version now. Not true for Miracle on 34th Street and some other black and white Christmas classics.

I may have to follow up with a post on MY favorite Christmas film of all time..but for now..."Merry Christmas, movie houuuuuuuuuse!!!!"

Guy, you love Christmas more than anyone I've ever met. You really put get me into the spirit of the season. I like "It's a wonderful life", but my husband hates it, therefore we don't usually watch it anymore.

Your remake idea with Ben and Jessica makes me frightened and confused.

KJRs comment is hilarious.

Um, I'm not a huge fan of this movie. I watched it once and found it not that wonderful. But it still would be terrible if they did that remake you spoke of. That would so be a sign of the Apocalypse! ;)

It's not so much about the Christmas thing for this movie. It's more about a guy walking around regretting decisions that he made in his life, and then finally coming to terms with his life, and realizing that a lot of those decisions were not so bad.

I have never watched this movie. I am resistant to it in the way I am resistant to watch Brokeback Mountain, The Indiana Jones movies, or the t.v. series 24.

It will never live up to the hype. EVER.

So I refuse to be let down. I will not watch it.

I have never seen It's A Wonderful Life all the wat through, even though it's one of Hubby's fav movies. The thought of Ben and jessica doing a remake scared the eff out of me, tho.
Thanks for that image.

my reasons for refusing to watch it are all about priciple. but don't worry, even though i'm not around you and allyson so much anymore, there are plenty of people here in ohio to question my moral fiber for not watching this movie (or, gasp, star wars). i also recently found out that my sister's never seen it and also refuses, even though we're having a surprise party for my father's 60th b-day this december themed "it's a wonderful life" since it is also the movie's 60th anniversary this december. you should come, share your stories of the movie and it's wisdom, since we can't.
