Steak

The biggest tragedy of yesterday is that I had to cook my steaks on the George Foreman Grill (it's the only grill I own). I generally like my steaks on the bloody side but not when I cook them at home. If I'm going to get sick from eating an undercooked steak it's going to be at Outback or Ruth's Chris Steak House. Luckily I've never gotten Mad Cow Disease from eating at either of these places, but I have turned green once or twice after receiving the bill from Ruth's Chris Steakhouse.

I like to eat wings, pizza bites and other shitty foods on Super Bowl Sunday. I also like to drink at least a few beers. Preferably Budweiser (The King of Beers). True. But I had to work last night which means that I couldn't drink any alcoholic beverages. It's almost sacrilege for Corky to watch the Super Bowl with out a buzz but I didn't have a choice this year. Next year will be different! I won't be fooled again.

Normally I spend the most important day of the year with friends and family up in New Jersey, but because of a conflict of interest aka the child in my wife's belly, I stayed in Kentucky to watch the Super Bowl. Since we were staying home we decided to eat a little better this year and have steaks and a couple of baked potatoes.

The Birdman warned me that steaks have a tendency of coming out a little dry and chewy after cooking them in the Foreman... and they did. But we still enjoyed them. Nothing a little A-1 Steak Sauce couldn't handle. Besides I couldn't even tell you if these steaks would sit well in my stomach or not. Two bites in to my dinner Devin Hester returned the opening kick off for a touchdown, and I immediately shit myself. Good thing the Colts settled down and dominated the Bears.

Nothing like the taste of something grill fired... What is it about that? We had some chicken breasts once, with the perfect marinade and haven't been able to repeat it. I think it was the exact type of beer-lol!

I have the George Foreman grill but since I got the grill for the burners on my stovetop, I actually like that better. They don't turn out dry and chewy like the Foreman. Just a thought...
I was rooting for the Bears and actually, not rooting against the Colts, I've just always been a Bears fan. It was a great game, the rain certainly made things interesting.
Glad you made the wife steak and potatoes, that got me thru my first pregnancy with flying colors.

I wasnt' even watching on that first touchdown...I was in the kitchen finishing up the snack tray. Needlesstosay, I didn't walk away during game time again.

I don't like to go out for stakes. I figure I can pretty much cook my own stake much better than most restaurants and their minumum wage cooks can. Unless it's a really REALLY nice stakehouse. Then I can't afford it anyway. LOL

I have a Foreman grill too. Usually just use it for pork which has to be cooked all the way through anyway.

On the Colts first possession I swear I saw Jim Kelly...but it was just an illusionin in the constantly blurry camera view. Grossman was amazing...2 fumbles, 2 INTs...and that Prince character...who the hell invited him???

We had the BBQ tri tip, hot links, beans and bread! (Oh and beer, but I won't rub it in) It was great!

I remember how devastated you were when the Bills lost because of that missed field goal. So I'm glad the team you were rooting for won this time!

That was a sad 14 seconds after the opening kickoff... And then the interception by Manning. Good thing the Bears totally suck, and basically handed the game to Peyton and the Colts. 5 turnovers will do that...

My son was teething and my daughter didn't take a nap so I spent a large part of the game attending to them. I also kept up my annual tradition of not watching the half-time show as I gave my daughter a bath instead. I believe that once large gap between the number of Super Bowls won the the NFC and AFC is getting smaller with each year.

I really thought it was going to be a shitty game, after the first minute and a half. I was pleasantly surprised and happy with the outcome! And now you've got me craving red meat. Thanks, pal.

I never would've thought of doing steaks on the Foreman. And now, thanks to your warning I won't. But I agree with Yas - on the image of you shitting yourself thing too, but more importantly that A-1 can make anything taste great.

Oh, and I too was grateful the Colts pulled it out. Nothing against Lovie Smith (other than that first name) and the Bears. But Dungy, Manning and the rest earned it. They deserved it.

One more thing: Full disclosure - I thought and predicted the Bears would win 'cause of the whole playing in messy weather thing. But I was rooting for the Colts.

No kidding? That's where I live dude. But since you stayed in KY, that explains why I didn't sense the Corky presence! :)

I have a Hubby that does almost all of the cooking, so I wouldn't know what a George Foreman grill even looks like. We had a wicked turkey dinner instead. Oh, yeah, and we rooted for The Bears.....

Ruth's Chris sux. We have eaten there twice and both times we were raped by the WORST, fattiest, most charred $150 medium rare steaks we have ever had. No thanks. Ill take one of the Portuguese joints in Newark over Ruths OR The Palm any day. And I actually think Steak and Ale has a pretty good fliet.

And the trick to cooking steak on the forman is not to close the lid.

Tuesday talking shit about Ruth's Chris will not be tolerated on this blog. They are the best, perhaps you went to the wrong one.
Peter Luger kicks ass too, but we already know that.
And me and KJR eat F-in great steaks in Morristown at least once a month at Arthur's...you've been there with us Tuesday. And yet, I still go back.

I have never made good beef on the foreman but I am always pleased with the way grilled Chicken comes out.

I was personally hoping a really good baseball game would break out during the Superbowl, but, as usual with Holy Touchdown Sunday, I was sorely disappointed. Luckily, Prince was awesome. Especially when he stroked his gigantic guitar phallis for the whole world to see. Can't wait for the Congressional hearings on that!

We missed you at the great box stack-a-thon this year, Corky. Luckly, KJR and I were able to spend the entire time goofing off by making the younger kids do all the work. The Birdman didn't show, because he needed his beauty-sleep. Having seen the Birdman in person, I think he made a wise decision.

For great steaks I prefer Morton's to just about everyplace else, although having finally eaten at Peter Luger's, I am no longer so sure (it's an apples to oranges comparison, though). I can only tolerate Arthur's on a weeknight, when no one is there, and their steaks are a tribute to the philosophy that if you put enough salt and pepper on a slab of meat, it will be good. Never been to Ruth's Chris, although I hear it is phenomenal.

You have blown me off on Super Bowl Sunday for about 14 years now. I might stop asking if you don't watch it!

I do love my teenage vixens, but I think that I have also proven my ability to keep them straight and you definately went there with me, KJR, and his girlfriend at the time, before she left her personality it Florida.
