TV rots your brain!

As most of you know, I don't watch a lot of television. It's not my thing. Watching to much television rots your brain according to my Auntie Grizelda. Don't worry, I never pass judgement on others who do watch a lot of television. Not everyone's life can be as exciting as mine is. That's just the way the cookie crumbles folks. No reason to slit your wrist over it... But there are a couple of shows that I do watch.

On Monday nights I watch Heroes (off Peak). On Tuesday nights I watch a couple of Law & Orders and sometimes the Gilmore Girls with Allyson. I can't remember what I watch on Wednesday nights, but I know that I'm in front of the tube from the time I wake up until I have to leave for work. I also like to be in front of the so called idiot box at 10:59 for the weekday Powerball drawing. Thursday night is the best night of television thanks to Smallville and Grey's Anatomy. Friday night I like to turn off the Networks and watch a rented movie with my wife. Of course I record regular Law & Order. Saturdays are spent watching westerns on TV Land and Sundays are spent in a cold sweat as I eagerly await the 2007 NFL season. Sometimes work interferes with my regularly scheduled programing, but that's why God created Tivo!

Speaking of television, Willsix and I were discussing Heroes yesterday and he told me that one thing he could do without are all of the special guest stars that appear on the show like, Mr. Sulu for example. Initially I agreed with him but then I got to thinking... In the 1970's and early 80's out of work Actors and Actresses went to the Love Boat to take their final bows. Check out the cast of the Love Boat on IMDB. Simply amazing. So why not offer the show Heroes to a new generation of has beens? So actors like Malcolm Mcdowell and Mr. Sulu can go out with some class and dignity for Christ's Sake!

Another point I would like to make about Heroes is that the show is getting much better now that Peter Pitrelli has real power. Unfortunatly the show still lacks that dynamic and powerful character that all great TV shows must have in order for me to worship them until the day that I die. What? Do you think the Love Boat would have been on for 10 years without Gavin Macleod playing the great Captain Stubing? I think not!

I don't watch any tv except football, the news and cartoons on public television (with my daughter). I watch a lot of shows and movies on dvd because I own too many of those.

Funny post Corky!

And you know who produces TV programs? Folks who have watched too many TV programs ... in other words, folks who have no brains left.

For someone who doesn't watch much TV you sure know a lot about it! LOL LOL

Must not forget Eric Roberts on Heroes...the guy seems to be EVERYWHERE! LOVE that show.

Have a great day, Cork.

As I expressed to the Skipper, Sulu has got to be the absolute worst pick ever to play an intimidating Japanese man. Seriously. It's just a disaster.

I can't believe you left American Idol off of your TV watching roster, Skipper. For shame. Also House, when it's not being preempted by fracking 2-hour Idol shows, is one of the most entertaining shows on TV. Seriously, Hugh Laurie is a damned genius.

As for Gavin Macleod? Well that little boy that nobody liked grew up to be the first American spokesman for Erectile Disfunction. And know you know...the REST of the story.

Mark: I watch TV shows on DVD when there's nothing on TV.

Dan: Thanks. That's not exactly true. Sherwood schwartz produced both Gilligan's Island and the Brady Bunch. That proves that he was a genius.

Lady K: You have a great day too. And I could never forget Eric Roberts (help me google).

Yasamin: Maybe your right about Sulu... After all he did get fucked when Mego made it's line of Star Trek action figures. No sulu figure. Still drives Captain Corky up a fucking wall. Even today.

Willsix: I've never watched American Idol. Can you believe that? I think Allyson watches House sometimes. This years Summer project is definitely Battlestar Galactica!

Okay, I have to agree about the great Captain Stubing. He did a great job captaining the Pacific Princess. Especially considering all the action going on on that boat. It had to be difficult to keep it steady in the water with all that rocking going on.

I've actually never watched Heroes. The Shield is the only show I actually watch on TV. I watch the Food Network, Travel Channel, HGTV and Turner Classic Movies way to much though.

You crack me up!
It seems to me that you DO watch a lot of tv!
Chris and I don't have any time left for tv, except to record our favorite shows (his being headbanger's ball and mine being Grey's Anatomy) and watch them when the savages finally fall asleep.
Did you hear that 2 people won the 370 million dollar mega millions jackpot last night? CRAZY!

Oh yeah, and HOUSE. I watch that, too.
And I used to record DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, but that show sucks now.
And I loathe LAW AND ORDER because of the way they talk. No one EVER talks at the same time, they all have stupid one-liners, and the conversation goes round the table in a circle... It's fairly pathetic, and the good guys always win. Boring. :)

Jay: Great points about Stubing! Keep in mind that sometimes he would get a piece of ass too.

Alicia: I don't watch that much TV... That shit depresses me about the 370 million cause it wasn't me. Hopefully I'll win the Powerball on Saturday. Then I can make my life dream come true by buying an HD TV.

Law and order SVU is the best. I have to tune in to see what will happen to Olivia next! That woman is always somehow personally involved in every crime that occurs.

I heartily recommend getting deeply, deeply involved with BSG over the Summer, Cap'n. Best hurry, though, as you're TV watching availability is about to out a crying, pooping, eating, wailing window.

I have resisted the widely renowned addictive shows (Lost, Heroes, 24, etc) purposely because I'm so busy in the evenings. But as a failed child athlete, I can't miss any NHL that is televised so that I can live vicariously through those french canadians.

But by that same logic...I should be watching Heroes, I was Awesome Captian Underwear for several years in my backyard...wait, maybe I shouldn't do that. If I get inspired to bring back that character, not many neighbors are going to want to see a 35 year old man in a pair of tighty whities climbing trees.

Really, Capt. Stubing? See, I would have thought the wacky team of Gopher and Isaac...or the charismatic "Doc"..or even the semi-attractive activities coordinator, Julie...The Captain always seemed like a stick in the mud.

I think maybe Heroes meant for maybe Sylar to be all-powerful, but he's just a dipshit... Hmmm, I still am addicted to the show though. Nothing has kept me coming back for more like Heroes in a while!!!

I used to watch no TV. A fellow hairdresser once told me that I had to watch it to keep current and have things to talk to my clients about. That's not why I started watching. Now I have 7 show that I want to watch. I'm too busy blogging and reading blogs to watch anymore! I find myself playing catch-up on my laptop after they've aired. I'm telling you, not enough time in the day!
