Resurrection

I had me some really good ham over at my Mother In Law's house yesterday. Along with the scrumptious pork, I had some green beans, mashed potatoes, mac-n-cheese, and a piece of chocolate pudding pie. It was all very delicious. I think Allyson and some other people were eating with me, but I couldn't tell you because I couldn't see past my plate. It was the best meal I've had in at least three weeks. Most people at the table yesterday were celebrating the Resurrection of Christ. I was actually celebrating the Resurrection of my apartment.

On Saturday my wife and I spent what most people would consider to be an obscene amount of money on new furniture. I was up at 7: AM shopping. Allyson is in nesting mode and according to her everything we own minus our bed must go. She even told me that she wanted to throw away our DVD's, and said that we didn't need them... Anyway, I agreed with her that everything else needed to change about our apartment. After all I don't want Corky Jr. thinking I'm some kind of asshole who's furniture doesn't match.

So basically we have until April 20th (furniture day) to get this place ready. We spent Saturday afternoon putting together a new TV Stand and then on Saturday night/Sunday morning I started painting while listening to One Big Holiday, by My Morning Jacket. It's actually been a lot of fun so far. The last room that we're going to put together is Corky Jr's. Allyson and Erika will be taking care of that in May while I sit on the couch and catch up on all the TV I'm going to be missing over the next couple of weeks.

Lastly, I felt Corky Jr. kick yesterday for the first time. Amazing.

First, to Allyson, you go girl! Clean out that apartment, and more importantly, get new stuff while you still have the time to shop and the money to buy it with!

Second, feeling the baby kick is one of the best parts of pregnancy!
Congratulations!

J.

Mac 'n' cheese, new furniture AND feeling Corky Jr. kick for the first time? Wow! You are having some amazing days. :)

Holy cow, sounds like YOU had a great Easter weekend, too. These truly are amazing days.

Good plan. You don't want Corky Jr. to come home and see a bunch of garage sale furniture. He'll be concerned about his well-being if he saw that.

After Allison and Erika get Corky Jr.'s room together you can go in and put the NFL stuff where you want. You can't introduce the kid to the NFL early enough, you know.

And oh yeah, there IS going to be a Starship Enterprise hanging above Corky Jr.'s bed, isn't there?

Ah yes! The joy of feeling the kick! That is awesome! I'm very happy for you folks!

I'm also happy about the food you rocked! Sounds awesome!

Hoosiergirl: The entire experience has been amazing. Every time I think it can't possibly get any better it does.

Exactly Karma. As a matter of fact it probably won't feel like home until I spill some Mac-n-cheese on the new furniture.

Lady K. These are amazing times. I'm glad somebody else see's it my way.

Jay: The plan is flawless. The kid is going to be born in the beginning of July. That will give us three weeks to get acquainted with him and then pre-season begins.

Not only is he going to have an enterprise mobile, but his crib is going to be shaped like the Enterprise shuttle craft. Well, my wife might have something to say about all that shit, but if I had my way...

Thanks Rockdog. My stomach was rocking a bit after we ate.

We had fried chicken and potato salad. We missed our normal Easter weekend picnic because it was SNOWING IN TEXAS IN APRIL! So, we had our normal fare inside on Sunday instead of outside on Saturday.

Kicking Jr = Super Cool!

Congrats!

Did it feel like a left or right foot? Usually lefties kick with the same foot, ergo he'll have some good value as a middle reliever depending on his off-speed pitches.

and remember - righty tighty, lefty loosey...and drinking wine always helps - i drank a bottle before re-upolstering my couch one time - it was wonderful. just don't rub it in allyson's face... :)

These are such exciting times for you and Allison!

Feeling the baby kick for the first time is one of the best things ever. :)

Very cool -the kicking is neat to feel. I always pile my plate high so I can pretend that I can't hear or see the in-laws ;-)

The first kick! Nothing like it in all the world!

You may think the kicking is awesome, but wait until you are in the car, on a road trip, kid starts kicking, bladder starts leaking, mamma's gotta go and there isn't a bathroom in miles. Bring a spare roll of toilet paper on those outings!

so 4/20 is "furniture day?" yeah. i hear you, brother. happy "furniture day" to you, too.

that first kick is amazing. wait 'til the thing pops out screaming and you're like, "holy sweet baby jesus! that's mine?!"

seriously, good luck to you on that journey.

Well, this was a popular post! How fun to be getting new furniture. You're sure doing a lot at once.

I'll never forget what it felt like to feel my daughter kick. Enjoy this time. Trust me, this is the easy part. The entertainment is about to begin.

Nesting I understand new furniture is always dandy.
But don't dump the DVDs in Alisons altered homono state you both will just hate yourselfs later when you have to spend more money re-buying what you dumped. and babys are expencive.

Hee I doubt Cork JR would notice the mis-match furniture but its a good an excuse as any ;)
