"Scott Baio's 45 and Single:" coincidence or divine intervention?

While most of you are boating, water skiing, barbecuing and working 0n your base tans this Summer, I am sitting inside my home searching for good Summer television programming. That's just part of what I do. To be completely honest with you, I'd almost given up hope. I just can't swallow another episode of Grey's Anatomy. I like the show, but I just can't watch Denny Duquette die for a 5th time. It's too gut wrenching. I was all set to turn my television off until September and read some books, but then I came across an advertisement for a new reality show on Vh1, "Scott Baio's 45 and single."

Part of my inspiration for this post came from Terri over at The Ruddell Times. Check her out!

Baio's new reality series premiers July 15th at 10:30 PM on VH1. Not only is my faith in television restored for the Summer, but my faith in mankind is restored as well. Happy Days is in my top 10 favorite shows of all time. It's one of the few shows that doesn't take place in New York or Outer Space that I really love. I'm also a pretty big fan of Charles in Charge too. I just love that Buddy Lembeck. Nicole Eggert's not bad either. I don't know, things just don't seem right with the world when Baio's not working on television. It only seems right that my son be born the same month as Baio's resurrection. Life is fantastic my friends.

Tomorrow (Friday) I'm guest posting over at Sunshine's place. Make sure to check it out. As long as you're not boating, water skiing, barbecuing or working on your base tan of course.

Ok, now I know VH1 is desperate..

But I used to LOVE Scott Baio....

Remember "Joanie loves Chachi"?

He was on "Arrested Development" not too long ago, and he looked pretty good, actually.

If you have never watched that most excellent show, I suggest you go out and buy all 3 (I'm sniffling, only 3!) seasons on DVD.

I'm leaning towards divine intervention.

Scott Baio is the devil.

Wow! 45! I bet the Fonz could hook him up with some old biddy for the night...or maybe the Hooper Triplets!

maybe I'm just a youngin, but I've never seen any of those TV shows. And there is a good chance I wont see this one.

If a TV show isn't building something big, blowing something up, or driving something really fast. I don't really watch it.

Blancodeviosa: Desperate? Didn't you mean to say, "Now I know VH1 is finally upgrading it's programming." LOL!

Hoosiergirl5: Great show! It's in my top 100 for sure.

Gina: I should check it out. I watched a couple of the early episodes and really liked them. The show just slipped away from me.

Beefcake: Easy there Death Metal boy.

Rockdog: That sounds like a good premise for a new sitcom. I'm going to email Garry Marshall immediately!

Chucky: My heart bleeds for the younger generation.

I always thought he was way cooler than Joanie.

and no link to my drooling over Scott Baio from a few days ago? Didn't I help create this post idea for you? Credit man, credit.

I will be sure to check you out at sunshine's blog. Its been a busy week over there with all the guests. Pretty cool tho.

How many more days/weeks? Are you going to post a pic of Corky Jr.? I sure hope so, luuuuv me some baby right about now. Mine own have grown up so fast.

If Scott Baio is 45 then that must mean I'm getting near 40. That just can't be the case.

I'm very disappointed that Posh Spice's reality show has been dumped from the summer line up. How could they possibly leave that train wreck off the schedule?

captain corky said...

Gawilli: I always liked Joanie. She comes from good stock!

Terri: I fixed that small little over site. Your post definitely helped me piece this one together.

Jay: I don't know man. Maybe there's some big government conspiracy to get us to shut off our televisions and go outside. But I can tell you this, it ain't gonna happen! At least not from me.

oh my god i know a few girls that are going to cream their panties on the spot when they hear about this !!!!!

Billy said...

Forget about Scott! I can't wait for the baby to get here either!

Shit, now I have that damn Charles in Charge theme song in my head...
'Charles in charge of our days and our nights....' Damn you! He's got to be old and pruny by now, right? I might have to check out this train wreck. I just said something on my own blog about summer tv sucking it. Personally, I'm liking Hells Kitchen. You can't go wrong on a show that bleeps the F word every minute or too.

Lady K said...

LMAO I just heard that theme song for Charles in charge sung by a barbarshop quartet on "Scrubs" the other day. It was hilarious.

I am SO there to watch Scott Baio on VH1. Interesting...

Who's Scott Baio?

Alicia said...

Happy Days?
Wasn't he CHARLES IN CHARGE?

furiousBall said...

Scott Baio's sexual lineage is legendary, god bless him

Jenny! said...

Wait...he was from Happy Days??? I can now officially say that I will not watch any TV until Big Brother starts!

Metal Mark said...

Scott Baio was not one of the positive things about Happy Days. He was so 1970's and just never fit in. He was better on Charles in charge though and wonderful in Zapped!

Biddie said...

God help me...I know that I will watch that show at least once..I won't be able to help myself..I am addicted to train wreck TV. Maybe I need an intervention.

Liz said...

How did I miss that announcement. I've been watching Flavor of Love Girls and I didn't see any ads for the Scott Baio show.

My fantasy is for Scott to take a roll where he gets to be the biggest prick on the planet. A really evil bastard. That would be so satifying.

@blancodeviosa

VH1 isn't desperate.

I forget where I heard this, but their director of programming basically said that the primary thing they're looking for in all their shows is the WTF (what the f***) factor. And they're getting huge audience too. Flavor of Love 2's finale was something like the most watched show on cable this year.

I believe if anyone's desperate, it's probably the audience.

What a crock: Don't you deny that you're one of them. After all honesty is the best policy. ;)

Abbagirl74: Me either sister. :)

Heather: I've never seen Hells Kitchen, but I do love the f word very much. I'm going to have to check it out one of these days.

Lady K: It's ok to admit that you still have your Scott Baio posters up. I promise I won't tell. ;)

Karma: Asking who Scott Baio is equivalent to asking what three colors are in the united states flag. You could be deported for that. ;)

captain corky said...

Alicia: Rumor has it that he was in both. A long with a few other shows here and there. Admit it, you wish Charles was in charge of you.

Furiousball: I know...He's got one of the most impressive rap sheets of all time.

Jenny: Season 1 and 2 of Happy Days are out on DVD. Time to catch up girlfriend.

Metal Mark: I don't now how I forgot to mention Zapped. Thanks for getting my back!

captain corky said...

Biddie: Nothing wrong with a good dose of Scott Baio TV every once in a while. Now if you're sitting in front of your TV waiting for the latest news on Paris Hilton that means that you have major issues and an intervention may not be enough. ;)

Nonny: I sense a presence I haven't felt in a long time...

Come over here and give ol' Corky a hug. Welcome back Nonny!!!

David: Summer TV is so bad that I usually depend heavily on VH1 to get me through it.

Jenny! said...

I will add that to my Netflix right now!

Cindy-Lou said...

Sounds like one of those shows that when you talk about it, you always start your sentence with "I can't believe I watch this, but..."

Aunt Jackie said...

Hahaha!!! This is hilarious... I used to love Happy Days... although I never really got into Joanie Loves Chachi! I knew this wouldn't last!! LOL!

Hazed said...

Please tell me you're kidding. Okay, don't, then. My eyes are damaged enough. I never liked Scott. He was a punk. Oh, and I was too young to think guys were "cute" during Happy Days. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Jerrster said...

Chachi...being 45 somehow makes me feel young.

captain corky said...

Jenny: I hear that! I also recommend the first season of Welcome Back Kotter.

Cindy-lou: Maybe for you, but I still wear my Scott Baio Iron on shirt proudly. Remember those things?

Aunt Jackie: It broke my heart when they canceled that show.

At least they made it all good when Joannie Married Chachi in the Happy Days series finally.

Fridaysweb: I never kid. Especially about something as sensitive as Scott Baio's 45 and Single.

Jerrster: I'm only 9 years behind him, but he obviously has spent a lot more time out in the sun than I have.

Cheryl said...

So do we actually have to watch it to see what Scott looks like at 45? Picture, please. I know you can get one cause you're in the loop.

Pink said...

errr...what is the premise of this show? Are they auctioning him off to the highest bidder? I'm sure I'll have a few quarters in the bottom of my handbag that I won't need when I get back on the plane to go to London.

I promise to click over to Sunshine's but I can't right now. I'm working on my basetan while I barbecue some steaks on my waterskis.

when its my turn to drive the boat I'll be able to click. I don't need to focus so much when I'm driving.

I love Happy Days, too:)

I love Happy Days, it had some sort of comforting vibe to it. But then I am sort all about comfort TV. Let me splain... Once I have watched a show, series or movie more than once it is familiar and calming because i know how it ends. Us anxiety freaks like to know how it ends.

captain corky said...

Cheryl: VH1 is paying me a significant amount of money to pique your interest. That's why you're just going to have to tune in. Or you could Google Scott Baio I suppose, but then Corky won't eat. ;)

Pink: "I'm working on my base tan while I barbecue some steaks on my water skis."

Very nice Pink. Are you doing this in the middle of Times Square? I hear the water skiing is great in Times Square.

Beader: Great show! I still tell people to "sit on it" when they piss me off.

Modern Mommy: I had a friend who wasn't allowed to watch Happy Days because his mother thought it was to sexually provocative. Isn't that ridiculous?

Some Day is Right Now said...

Scott Baio is still alive?!?!?

p.s. I've already got my base tan. ;-)

Scott Baio, I think that I will pass. You do have a point about Grey's Anatomy and watching Denny Duquette dying; then, I missed the episode where Meredith has her near death experience and returns to be with the living...sigh.

captain corky said...

Gordita: Believe it or not yes he is. I think he may be one of the few former child stars that isn't a god freak and didn't wind up addicted to heroin. Go figure.

MJD: You missed Meredith's near death experience? How do you go on? ;)

Michael Colvin said...

Scott Baio is only 45? I was a kid when I watched that show and he was a teenager. Now he's only 2 years older than me!!! How does that work?

Anonymous said...

Hi! Thanks for stopping by my blog earlier.
...Scott Baio, huh? I wonder how he looks now.

Tod: It's amazing isn't it? He's only 9 years older then me, but I plan on being much better looking when I'm 45.

Anne: Welcome! Not as good as me obviously.

Palm Springs Savant: Cool. I'm going to hold you to that!

Michael C: What kind of popcorn do you like?

Eric: Wa, Wa, wa...

nice new setup. what happened to your roll call?

What a Crock: Working on it when you called.

I am pretty sure I had a BOP! poster of Scott Baio on my door at some point. Joanie loves Chachi was appointment television for me even before the phrase existed (and I must have been about 7).

I really wish I had cable for this one. I will just have to live vicariously through you, Corky.

Is this going to be a show done The Bachelor style?

Does any one know the song that's playing when Scott, is driving to see his first ex girlfriend?
