Weekend Plans

For some inexplicable reason I never get tired of posting new pictures of Corky Jr... More than one of you have asked me to keep them coming, and of course I always oblige my readers. Without you I'd be the only one reading the log. That would suck, and trust me, it's a lot easier to talk to myself than write to myself.

I've got a big weekend planned. Grandma Tina (my mom) and Aunt Cindie (my sister) are on there way from Jersey with TWO POUNDS of Corn beef and 12 bagels. I think they got a bunch of shit for Corky Jr as well, but I'm more concerned with the food that's going to be digesting in my stomach in less than 12 hours. Yum.

After a nice nap, and maybe an episode or two of Star Trek we're going to go for Korean food tonight. Unfortunately Corky Jr is still drinking formula so he'll have to settle for four ounces of the same shit he eats for every meal. Something in my gut (and not the corn beef because I haven't had any yet) tells me he'll be okay though. Korean food is my absolute favorite food of all time and unlike most other foods it's pretty good almost everywhere you live. The same can not be said for Chinese food, Italian food or bagels.

Saturday morning I hope to have breakfast with the family at Cracker Barrel. Mama's pancake breakfast comes with, 2 strips of either bacon or sausage, 2 eggs and 3 pancakes. I'll probably swindle my mother or sister out of one of their sides. I just have to have grits with my Mama's Pancake Breakfast, and that's all there is to it! I'll also have a coffee with my breakfast and use Splenda instead of sugar. I'm trying to watch my figure.

After that I'm pretty much plum out of ideas. We'll probably go to the mall and Target after we eat breakfast. I prefer to eat lunch at the mall and then get a snack at Target. Probably a pretzel with a coke.
Dinner will be a big deal Saturday night. My wife's parents Al and Sharon will be joining Cindie, Tina, Allyson, Corky Jr and myself. I'm not sure where we'll go but I do know that I'll probably have a steak, and a baked potato. By dinner time Saturday night I'll be fucking hungry!

Sunday I plan on cooking dinner at home. Nothing special, just two trays of baked Lasagna. I'm sure we'll go downtown Sunday morning for brunch or something, but I'm not too concerned about that.

All of this writing has made me really hungry. I hope everyone has a good weekend. Any plans?

My wife attempted to breastfeed our firstborn but I hovered over her like a hawk, arguing that he just wasn't getting enough. We switched to formula on day two and never looked back.

I still remember those 3am feedings where I'd play him some soft Leonard Cohen music while he gulped down his warmed up formula. Ahhhhh...those were the days.

So basically, you're eating all weekend? Sounds like a plan.

Corky Jr...still totally cute. I don't envy you the night wakings. May you be blessed with a son like mine - who started sleeping through the night at 8 weeks. My daughter on the other hand...OY!

Awww... I love the pictures you are sharing...

And, I gotta work all weekend. The Police are playing at Fenway Park...

Wow, that's a big weekend of food! And yes, please keep the pictures of Corky Jr. coming-he's adorable!!!! My weekend plans are apparently going to include still being sick, lots of couch laying and movie watching. And the eye doctor, bleh...

Lady K said...

That sounds like a lot of fun. WAY more fun than getting the rest of the crap out of my old apartment and then cleaning the hell out of it. UGH I'm so tired of moving. I'd rather come watch Corky Jr. fidget all day!

Food, food, and more food..
And all I can think of when I'm reading is: carbs, carbs, carbs...see, you're not helping.

Plans for the weekend? Well, little ole La is grabbing her traveling pants and taking a journey across the states. I'm meeting the woman I'm in love with. EEK!
Scary and exhilarating for the first time. Keep your fingers crossed. YAY!

That sounds like a very busy weekend for a lady with a baby. Are you sure Max and Allyson are up to all that tromping around? Still, it sounds like fun, and delicious!

My plans for the weekend are to finally see the Harry Potter movie, and to try to catch up on things around here.

Motor City Monk: Jr was on an IV for his first two days of life, and then was given some formula at one of his first feedings. Breast milk never really satisfied him. Not enough volume.

I really love feeding him. It's amazing every time.

Heather: Eating is fun. I love to stuff my face.

I work at nights so when I come home I'm ready to roll with Max.

Beader: All work and no play! At least you'll be making money. ;)

Karma: Glad you're enjoying the pictures. I hope you feel better, but enjoy the movies and the couch. I always do.

Lady K: Moving sucks. I'm actually helping our friend Erika move her shit into storage tomorrow. But she's been so helpful and supportive that it's the least I can do.

Cheryl said...

I probably shouldn't read your blog when I'm hungry, cause now I'm much hungrier. Sounds like a great weekend. I love corned beef sandwiches on rye with mustard and coleslaw. So, think of me if you eat one of those, OK? Ditto on the pancakes at Cracker Barrel although I like the ones with peaches and whipped cream. I also use Splenda because I'm watching the figure too.

Cheryl said...

PS..I work 4 days a week. Yes, that's very sweet. Tuesday and Wednesday and Friday and Saturday. Except with vacation looming, I'm working Thursdays to accomadate my loyal clients. Cause I'm like that.

Liz said...

LOL! You sure love food, and planning for food, and talking about food. Your weekend sounds really busy, even if they only thing you'll be doing is eating.

Doesn't baby formula stink-blech.

Canadian flake said...

Holy cow now I am hungry..It sounds like your weekend is gonna be loads of fun. OMG Max gets more gorgeous with every pic u post. Please do keep them coming. Have a blast this weekend...don't forget the Rolaids just in case..lmao.

captain corky said...

Laurasia: I heart food, and I really heart carbs. Good luck. I hope you have an amazing time!

Hoosiergirl5: Allyson likes to go out with Max. She was out all day yesterday. I'm glad that she really hasn't had any postpartum issues. Have a great weekend, and enjoy the movie!

Cheryl: Allyson loves her pancakes with peaches and whipped cream too. I plan on gaining 10 pounds this weekend. ;)

Nonny: By the end of the weekend I should be so full that I can't breathe or walk, but it will be so worth it.

I don't mind the formula too much.

Nancy said...

Well lil' Max is looking mighty adorable!

You should have been a chef. I am cracking up on how you have your whole eating planned out for the next few days. It's 10:30am right now, I haven't eaten breakfast and no clue about lunch ... dinner? That is too far off to even think about.

Enjoy your weekend with the whole family!

Big plans this weekend. Pulling up stinky ass carpet and putting down free-newish-butnotstolen-carpet in our living room(s) on Saturday, and a Juno party with Heidiand Jethro on Sunday.
Whoo Hoo. Think there'll be lot's of food there, too.
LOVE the photos of the little guy, BTW. :)

I disagree with you about Korean food. it is the most difficult food to get right, and very few Korean places can master it. I've had more bad Korean than any other kind of food.

You realize, right, that your entire post was dedicated to what you will be eating this weekend? I know you're a new daddy, but you have GOT to get out a bit more, man!

Billy said...

Oh! I just love him! He is soo cute! Post pictures all of the time, we won't get tired of it.

captain corky said...

Canadian Flake: Rolaids and Pepto Bismol are both good ideas. Thanks for the reminder. ;)

Nancy: Thanks. After this weekend the Y is going to get sick of seeing my face everyday. I've got to get in good shape, but not this weekend. ;)

Biddie: Sounds good and you really sound great by the way!

Cherry Ride: I spent years living like a rock star... Now I just like to go out and have a good steak every once in a while.

I have had plenty of bad Korean food. I just meant that you can find good Korean food anywhere in the country. You cannot find good Chinese food outside of the new York area. Please Note that I've never been to the West Coast so I'm not sure about Chinese food out there.

abbagirl74: Glad you like, and I will. ;)

Biddie said...

Corky - I'm looking good, too :)

Ohhh, i shouldn't have come here to read you before i ate..i'm so hungry now. I'd love some of your corned beef on rye but i'm guessing you wouldn't like to share...would you?

I have no plans this weekend..just to relax and sleep and blog, of course...oh and i have a list of chores to do for my sister...that promises to be fun.

Off to start cleaning..enjoy your visitors and all the yummy food you plan to have...

ps ..coke, bleck! (i'm a Pepsi kind of gal!)

dude you are totally making me hungry and all i have are kroger bagels and cream cheese (not nearly as good as the bagels you'll be partaking of i'm sure). But this is the curse of moving - no food, but a cloroxed fridge. you would probably love the smell of my apt. right now (all clorox). see you tomorrow - thanks for the moving help. have fun eating! :)

I'm soooo ready to go to Cracker Barrel now. I like to do there for lunch or dinner and have their meat loaf and mashed potatoes. Yummmmmy!

I prefer Denny's breakfast, but Cracker Barrel's isn't bad at all.

captain corky said...

Biddie: I guess I'll never know...

Jamie: I'm always willing to share with a friend. ;)

I like Pepsi too, but for some reason I'm more brainwashed by coke.

Erika: Kroger bagels scare me, but your in Ohio so they might be a little better than Kentucky's bagels.

Are you going to be able to hang out at all on Saturday or Sunday?

Jay: Denny's is hit or miss with me, but I do love Moon Over My Hammy's.

After reading about all the delicious food I am now SOOO hungry!!

Spamboy said...

Manomanoman, I dig Korean food, too, ever since I visited there in 2002. Fire bowls, bugolgi, bibibap...mmm. You chose wisely.

Gina said...

I wasn't able to breastfeed Mr. P due to unknown-at-the-time health reasons, and he turned out just dandy!

And yes, your post is making me extremely hungry, even though I'm not a big fan of corned beef. But Hubba-hubba would pull up a chair and chow down with you.

As for our weekend, Hubba-hubba is working overtime on patrol tomorrow, and on Sunday we are going to the circus. No, not my MIL's, but the actual circus!

Jenny! said...

Damn, you make me hungry! Corky Jr. has big feet...so so cute! Please don't ever stop with thepictures!

Corky Jnr is looking cuter than ever.

I shall be spending my entire weekend contemplating which Krispy Kreme I shall be choosing to scoff next. Yum!

Jerrster said...

well I'm always laughing after reading your posts Cork-ster....but now I'm starving. What's with that?

captain corky said...

Bardbouble29: Definitely not a good post to read if you're waiting for lunch. I should have put in a disclaimer. ;)

Spamboy: Thanks for stopping by. Korean food kicks ass!

Gina: A lot of the nurses at the hospital were completely fine with formula. Max just wasn't getting enough food when Allyson was breastfeeding him.

Have fun at the circus, and eat lots of cotton candy, peanuts and popcorn for me. Also, please get me a toy whip. Thank you, your friend Corky.

Jenny: Even in his ultra sound we could tell that he had big feet. I wonder if he's going to be tall.

Tod: An excellent way to spend your weekend! Glazed for me please.

I don't know really, probably have a cook out and then go out to dinner. I just got back from a local burger joint for lunch where I had a fabulous thick juicy turkey burger with steak fries... it was yummy. Then I came by here to see what you'd logged for today, and now I think I'm going to go find something to eat for real! Then I might go for a snack & dessert.

Aunt Jackie said...

Oh, and I like Corky Jr's Pics too... but for some reason I was too hungry to remember to say that. **salivating**

Anonymous said...

Pardon me, but will two pounds of corned beef (Pastrami?) be enough?

captain corky said...

Jerrster: At least you don't cry (too often) when you come here. ;)

Aunt Jackie: I love steak fries and the turkey burger sounds good too. Yum!

Leslie: 2 Pounds should be enough. One and a half for me and a half for them. Welcome to the log.

Jinks: We're going to have a great time. Food, fun and frolicking!

Queen of Dysfunction: I'm probably going to have to spend the rest of the Summer at a fat farm after this weekend!

Debs: No plans are the best plans usually.

Erika: Cool! Who's driving the truck back from Ohio?

Rockdog: Sounds like a killer weekend. 72 ounces... I could do it!

captain corky said...

Dilling: Foooooooood! Must eat now!

Cindy-lou: I secretly work for the supermarkets. All of them.

Is this my husband? Cause you eat just like him. Damn, man, you gotta learn to pace yourself.

BTW...your kid is totally cute. I miss babies. My husband is mean and won't let me have anymore. Apparently, 3 is enough. He's such a quitter.

I love seeing the changes in Corky Jr. Thanks for keeping us up to date.

We are headed to Trader Joe's in Indy to stock up on coffee beans. There's a great little place just down the road from there that has outstanding cajun cooking. That sounds like lunch to me.

Dan said...

Congratulations my friend. Jr must have arrived when I was on vacation. Cute kid.

Baby pictures are worth at least 50 comments in 12 hours. :)

Molly said...

And, I have the honor of being the 50th commenter. Corky Jr, gets cuter everyday. Too bad that he will have to miss out on all of that eating.

We are off to Indianapolis to visit our family. We may do some eating too. Take care. I hope that your weekend with the family is good.

magickat said...

You are getting some east coast bagels??? HELL YEAH! Oops - sorry... I didn't mean to curse around the baby.

While I was going to college in Florida I would always request two things from visitors from New York. Pizza and ShopRite Iced Tea.

Glad your family is bringing your staples from home. Enjoy!

My sister says to get a giant water bottle and make everybody who swears put a quarter in it every time they cuss around my niece, and it's all going to a college fund. I'm in the hole and owe the jug a mmint! I'm a deadbeat pottymouth uncle, but I will pay her back and she will go to school--maybe to be a writer like me, of course, I'm stil learning, too.

I'm on sis's laundry room computer right now, surfing the blogs, and she made me tell you that after seeing the baby picture.

I said I would do that.

Ah, food. What would we do if we didn't obsess about it? It makes me think about that study that was released this week about how you are more likely to be overweight if your friends are overweight. I might need new friends soon.

The long planned and much stressed three day long bachelorette party to Wisconsin has finally arrived. I am packed and ready to go. That will be preceeded by my friend good deed-babysitting my best friend's 11 month old daughter ALL DAY on Saturday.

Tink said...

What the hell is corn beef? Is it anything like pickled beef? Because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't eat either. I don't eat grits... or mac-n-cheese... or breakfast foods in general. Hoop says that makes me unAmerican.

Pink said...

Hi Corks,

I'm still on a quest to have a little pinks jr and first step is to meet mr. pink. I went out with a walking club last night (new people) and there was a very nice nice man there. We talked and got along well for a half hour before he mentioned the missus. Then I didn't like him so much anymore.

Still...they'll be nice walking company.

Today I have an exciting day of housework, laundry, pack for africa this morning. Then I'll walk down the road and have breakfast (English: 2 eggs, baked beans, fried tomato, 1 sausage, 1 bacon and toast) and then I'll have my hair coloured.

After that the excitement doesn't end - I go get malarone and a typhoid shot and then on to work in the office for the rest of the day (around 3 pm)

Tomorrow I'm going on a country walk and then more work in the evening.

I am sure I will drink a lot of starbucks and have a few muffins in there. Probably some noodles for dinner since there aren't many places to eat around my office.

xx

I am laughing about Korean food. I had a boy in my class last year and we had pizza for lunch. Well, he's telling me he loves pizza you get in Kansas when your dad works at KU because the pizza in Korea is gross. I asked him what kind of pizza they have in Korea (I was thinking of Korean pizza whatever that might be.) Well, he'd just moved to the US and couldn't get it across to me what he was talking about.

Well, I'm talking to his older sister who has lived here a few more years. She laughed so hard. Then she said, "We have Pizza Hut in Korea." (although I did research it after the discussion and they do have different pizzas there, so I don't know if he meant those or if he just hates pizza hut).

Well, Capt.Corky, You went and did it again. I was just reading your lastest (mad man writings)Post. I think I just put about 10lbs back on. JERK. Anyways, I hope you got the KAP I sent out to you(if your sister remember to bring it. You know how she is). I would like to see a picture of the little crime fighter in it. Have fun and try (not) to eat all the cornbeef in one sitting. Talk to you later.

Christie: I don't want too many kids, 10 or 20 should be just about enough. I really haven't talked it over with my wife, but I'm sure she's game!

Gawilli: Very nice! I hope you enjoyed lunch. Corky Jr is up to 8 pounds and 1 once already. The little tot is growing like a weed.

Dan: Thanks my man. If the baby is worth 50 comments in 12 hours, then how many is my arse worth in 3?

MJD: Congrats on being number 50. Sorry you didn't get any streamers or horns, but we're working on that. ; Hope you had a great time in Indy!

P.S. Shit, I couldn't afford to do the Quarter in the jar thing.

Ashley: Hope you had a great time, and I'm sure the 11 month old girl wasn't too much trouble. And I really hope we can still be friends even though I've got a very "slight" gut. ;)

Tink: You could be deported for not eating grits in Kentucky. It's mandatory!
