Important information that you need to know!

Right now Max is taking a nap. He's sleeping on a pillow in the living room. Please try and remember to be as quiet as possible when leaving a comment. I would hate for the jingle alert that the email makes every time I get a new comment to wake him up. He woke up kind of early today. 7:00 AM if I'm not mistaken.

Usually he sleeps until 8 and on really lazy days he sleeps all the way till 9. Sleeping till 10:00 AM is unheard of for Max.

My sleeping schedule on the other hand is all sorts of fucked up.

As some of you probably suspected I work at night. That's why when I leave a comment on most blogs the time stamp usually indicates that it's some absurd hour of the night. My friends in other countries probably don't notice this as much because they live across some random ocean and probably just assume that I'm independently wealthy and can blog or leave a comment whenever I want to. Unfortunately, that's not the case.

Since I don't work Friday or Saturday I usually just stay up during the day when I get home from work on Friday and go to sleep at a normal time on Friday night. Then on Sunday night (the start of my work week) I go in exhausted from being up all day watching football, eating, and spending time with the fam.

From Monday through Thursday I adjust my sleeping schedule according to Allyson's work and school schedule. It's madness really.

Back during the Summer when I was reading the Harry Potter books some days I would be so enthralled in what I was reading that I would not sleep when I was supposed and I would go over 24 hours without sleep.

Obviously my sleep deprivation was at its worst when I was reading the last two books. It was worth it for the most part, but now I realize that reading books really isn't conducive to my life style and is colossal waste of time right now.

Maybe when Allyson's out of school and Max is in school my sleep pattern will be more regular and then I'll be able to spend an endless amount of time getting lost in some book. Maybe next time I'll read about some kid who decides to float down the Mississippi River on a raft.

It's now 1:09 PM and Max is still asleep in the living room on a pillow. I wonder if he's drooled on it...

PS Max usually sleeps with his eyes closed, but in this pic he's sleeping with his eyes open and it almost looks like he was looking at me.

I was wondering where you were - again. Honestly, how am I am going to get my Max/Corky fix if you are going to be disappearing all of the time?
I gotta tell you, Max is sooo cute.

It's just been a little hectic around here lately, but I'm pretty sure that I'm back to good. ;)

That kid isn't sleeping! Clearly he is protecting that pillow. What were you trying to do?

Dana said...

It's been far too long since you posted a picture of Max. He's grown up so much he's ready to get a job to help support the family!

Knight: Maybe he was practicing protecting his money from Daddy after a visit from the Tooth Fairy. ;)

Furiousball: Five's ok if you're into that sort of thing...

Dana: I agree, and then I'll be able to quit my job and live the good life.

What a cutie....Max that is...well of course i'm sure you're cute...but it is Max i'm speaking of.

I had a nap this afternoon...it was nice..just not long enough..do you take naps Captain?

Peggy said...

He's beautiful. I will try to only e-mail you during non-nap times from now on . ;-)

Katie: I'm going to try and be more regular from here on out.

Corky withdrawal is even worse than nicotine or heroin withdrawal!

Jamie: I nap sometimes, but a lot times when I need to nap I'm to hyper about something.

Peggy: Thanks! I could always turn my computer down, but that's no fun. ;)

Oh, I get it...Corky disappears for a good long while, makes us all want him like vodka, posts a picture of Max, and thinks everything is fine with us.
Is that what you think, Corky? Hmmmm??

Oh, OK.

Anyone as handsome as Corky (who looks better than a youngish John Travolta) gets a Welcome Back Kotter from me!

He's probably totally worn out after his first NFL weekend.

I hope the Big Bang Machine doesn't wake little Max up tonite!

I have one that sleeps with his eyes open = most disconcerting.

As for shutting my own eyes, like you I seem to find that sleeping is very over rated, or possibly just unobtainable.

Cheers

I have never noticed what time you leave comments.... and I don't care as long as ya do sometimes! Night work is hard on ya I'm sure.... poor bugger.

Wow, Max is growing so fast! It is good to see that he has mastered the art of napping in the most uncomfortable positions. This will be useful when he's an adult and needs to power nap on strangers shoulders in airports.

As for you... GET SOME SLEEP!

Leslie: Even when Corky has disappeared from blogging for a week or so he's always watching. Just like Santa I have a crystal ball and can tell when people are being naughty or nice. I prefer when they're being naughty of course.

Anonymous: Remember Mr. Woodman the vice principal? He was cool.

Jay: Exactly. We're just catching our breath now and we're almost ready for week 2.

Beader: So far so good. ;)

Maddy: Thank God for Coffee!

Chris H: There are some good points, like never having to deal with traffic or sunlight. ;)

Tod: Right after I check out one more thing on the Internet.

Story of my life. LOL

here's my two cents on this sentence:

"Maybe when Allyson's out of school and Max is in school my sleep pattern will be more regular and then I'll be able to spend an endless amount of time getting lost in some book."

Did you forget about baby #2 and baby #3 and baby #4???? :o) hehe enjoy your sleepless days and nights Corky!

Random Oceans wohow!
Glad to hear that Max isnt suffering from Insomnia, but sleeping with his eyes open... iih... it almost looks like he is rollinghis eyes at ya.

Tink said...

Sleeps with his eyes open, eh? That kid is going to be an excellent spy one day!

Burfica said...

so..wait...you work all night and are supposed to stay up and take care of max all day???

ouch cork.

Terri: I plan on pulling a Brad Pitt/Angelina Jolie and adopting five or thirty kids from all over the world, that are relatively Max's age, so it shouldn't be a problem. ;)

Crash Dummie: There are plenty of random oceans all over the world. Didn't you know? ;)

Tink: As long as he doesn't spy on me. :)

Burfica: I only work part time at night. About 5 1/2 hours. It's a decent part time job with excellent health insurance so for the most part it works for us.

SORRY FOR BEING SO LOUD!!!
Ever see that Simpsons where Homer is looking for Lisa and runs around yelling out her name and then he peeks into a baby carriage? LISA!!!
Anyway, if I could sleep with my eyes open I'd get a job as night security somewhere. Perfect.
8/ Hey look, I can do it!

Max is so cute but that opened eyes thing is pretty creepy. Ethan does that too.

Maybe you can learn to do that so as to be able to sleep in more places...like work :)

oh my oh my just how cute is Max.
now that you have taught Max to sleep with his eyes open you will need to teach him to nod periodically, great training for him!

Max is adorable. I can't believe you work nights and take care of the adorable one during the day. I feel tired just from reading aobut it.

My brother used to sleep with his eyes open. Bleurgh!

Was he as cute as Max? Doubtful.

Is there a 'cutest baby in the blogosphere' competition running somewhere? There should be.

WHAT? You're NOT independently wealthy? So why have I been bothering coming over here, then?

Oh ya. Max. What a sweety.

But open eyed sleeping creeps me out just a little.
