State of the Log Address: 2007

Birdman, Ms. Tuesday, Willsix, distinguished guests, Mom, and fellow Corkians:

2007 is going to be an even bigger and better year for us here at the log. I find it very encouraging at the progress, and growth that Corky's log has made in such a short time but it's just the beginning folks.

Some of you have been with the log since it's inception back in 2006 while others of you have just been added to the Roll Call as recently as yesterday. New stories will be told, and old history will be revisited. Some will get my sense of humor almost immediately. Others will scratch their heads and say, "What the fuck" and click forward to the next blog. If you're one of these people, you're a mutt (a dog with no heart).

I'm not going to spend all of the precious two minutes or so you give me ,every day, telling you all the unique and different things that are going to be changing or coming to the Log this year, but I will briefly explain three areas of the Log that will be a main focus during 2007 .

First, it is my intention to expand the Roll Call by 20,000 links. I understand that this is lofty goal, and will take time, and perseverance but with your support and my three point plan, I know that we can, and will accomplish this goal. Probably right around the same time that Corky Jr. is born if my calculations are correct.

Next, there is the matter of television. More of it needs to be discussed here on the log, and I realize that it's my responsibility to make sure that happens. If your not watching shows like Smallville, I want to know why you're not, and why you don't have a personality. Heroes is a good show. Smallville is a great show. Understand? Corky's word is Law!

Finally, by years end I'm hoping to have my first video post up... I've already added voice mail to the Corktionary for a trial run. So far so good! It looks like there might be a spot for it permanently on Corky's log, but first I have to speak with my technical advisor. I also plan on asking someone to design a flag for the Log, all in good time.

In short my fellow Corkians the state of the log is stronger than ever. 2007 is going to be a great year. Hail Corky's log!

Yay! Corky rules!

I don't watch TV because I only get one channel on my 20" TV in the basement. It's a good channel. I can watch all of them Idol shows. I'm not sure what this says about my personality...

Thanks Heidi! I'm glad to see that you understood the post :)

All HAIL the Cork!

I am digging on Smallville, although I can never decide between shows. Maybe it's time I lay off the tube and check out more youtube. ;-)

I like the sound of that Lady K!

i am having this crazy image of a grammar contest between corky and bush. its a close call.

also, did anyone catch the part of the state of the union where bush put forth 20 in 10? (20% reduction in foriegn oil in 10 yrs.) This sounds suspiciously like corky's 90 in 90.

Can't wait to see the upcoming changes! And I don't watch t.v., I watch movies. Does this make me a bad person? ;)

"...the log is stronger than ever."

I JUST said this to my wife this morning!

Hmmmm...Smallville...I've never given it a chance. You are Corky, if you say it rocks then I will give it a shot.

While I usually agree with the distinguished barn-swallow from Can'tucky, my conscience demands that I address this august body at this time and spread forth the word that Battlestar Galactica is the greatest show on television.

Oh, and, uh, Bush is Stoopid.

Looking forward to '07, Cap'n. It's gonna be a banner year.

20,000 links......is that what's called a surge?

Grammar is an outdated, and overrated notion Grumbler.

PS. The Colts are going to destroy the Bears in the Super Bowl!

Karma: of course not! Movies are acceptable too.

Rockdog: Please do not desecrate the log with toilet humor.

Willsix: I promise I'm going to check out Battlestar this summer. I'm going to need a new show to watch this summer.

Looking forward to 2007!

I counted at least a dozen standing ovations during that spectacular speech. Well done.

I've never watched Smallvile. But, I understand that I am missing out by not watching ANY of the shows on the CW. I hear that many of them are good. And a lot of hotties on that network too. Or so I hear.

I really only watch two shows. South Park and The Shield. Surely those shows are acceptable to his Corkyness?

I love that you're turning others onto Smallville. I, of course, have watched it since its inception. Perhaps if we get enough people to watch we can keep it on the air for many more years.

You sure have set some lofty goals Cork. I'm not quite that motivated. But if you want someone to design a flag you must, I repeat, must talk to Pixie. She is a web design genius.

Just so you know, I do read you everyday. I just don't comment all the time because my bons mots pale in comparison to your scathing wit :)

Corky, U rock. =:)

As a loyal Corkian, I actually gave you several standing ovations during this post.

Hail to the Cork!!!

captain corky said...

Sunshine: I like to think of it more as spreading the gospel.

Alicia: Me too! Especially July 10th, and February 4th.

Jay: South Park for sure. Nothing funnier then the George Clooney smug cloud.

Nonny: Thanks! Last weeks episode kicked ass. Introduction of the Justice League. I hope it's a new show in the fall.

Lone Beader: U rock too!

Pissy: I love it!

"...all of the precious two minutes or so you give me..."

C'mon, you know that you have the exact "average vist duration" from sitemeter bookmarked somewhere on your computer... =)

At any rate, fot the record the technical advisor has not yet received any work orders to date. Though, might I also suggest an albhabetized system if the rollcall is going to exceed 100? Its getting a little hard to plod through as it is... I do know someone who could help you with this...for a negotiable fee..e but her rates are quite reasonable.

captain corky said...

Tuesday: I completey forgot all about that silly old sitemeter.

I can't do the alphabtize thing because Kim Jong Ramone has instructed me that if I ever removed his link from the number one spot I would be disowned.

Lou said...

I am all for the oulined plans you have set forth. BUT if the 2008 speech mentions all of us moving to Guyana and drinking some Kool-Aid I am out.

Oh and the fact that I wasn't addressed by name at the begining of your speech may have damaged our friendship.

captain corky said...

Kim Jong Ramone: But I did mention your name in my response to Tuesday's comment. Does that count for anything?

MrRyanO said...

OK toilet humor will be kept a minimum...I'll still check out Smallville anyway...

I've only watched Smallville a couple times and that was when James Marsters guest starred as Prof. Fine. I also saw the episode where they ripped off Buffy...it upset me and I refused to watch Smallville after that.

Ms. Tuesday said...

*sigh*

well as I see it you have 2 options: invite KJR to be a "Featured Player" (the upper echelon on the Log, for sure) so that he will indeed always be on top of the page...or... just leave himon top and alphabetize everyone below him.... And if the almighty KJR cannot be appeased with either of these options then... well then I could always make his link take you to somewhere obscene like... barney.com or some jazz.

Lou said...

Good point Tuesday why am I not a featured player? I mean as the future godfather to your child and your wife's favorite one of your friends it is only fitting that I get top billing.

Theresa said...

Congratulations on your tenure and best of luck in accomplishing your most excellent goals.

Just one question ... may I be excused from television if I have a doctor's note?

Heather and Ian said...

i demand to stay on top, too. even if i never post again. remember, corky, you onluy started this blogging nonsense at my request:

now that i think about it, i should be above KJR. did he ever invite you to post on his blog?

But that makes no sense (shaking hand in only the way that the birdman can shake a hand while saying "that makes no sense")
You didn't outline how all these changes are going to make MY blog bigger and better
