Rain

It's raining today. Can you believe that shit? I can't. I looked out my window around 8:00 this morning and low and behold it was raining. Genuine, consistent, wet rain, with thunder and lightning and everything. Wow!

I thought about putting on my rain coat and galoshes and grabbing Captain Corky Jr so that we could play in a puddle or someshit, but then it occurred to me that I might get wet. Fuck that shit, and fuck the rain. Let all the other assholes in Louisville get wet. If I want to get wet I'll take a shower and drip drip dry in the privacy of my own bathroom. Captain Corky Jr won't want to get wet until he's at least 15, so I just let him sleep in his bassinet this morning. Please Note: The bassinet was a very, very smart purchase.

If you want to read a funny post about umbrellas you should check out Jenny's blog!!!

Fin.

UPDATE: 8/22/2007
It's hot and humid and nasty today. Captain Corky Jr and I are thinking about going out to hunt for rattlesnake. I swear rattlesnake tastes just like chicken, only without that chickeny after taste. Yum!

Fin.
Again.

Corky jr will probably want to jump in puddles as soon as he can walk. Sorry. It's true. And you will be so in love with him that you will jump too and forget all about the fact that you hate getting wet.
He is one of the cutest kids I have seen in a long time!!

Feels like Home: If we find worms then it will be ok! We need the worms for fishing. Thanks. ;)

About the bassinet being a good deal...when the time comes for Major Max to be eating solid food, get a Happy Baby Food Grinder (no kidding) Instead of feeding him canned/jarred baby food, you put your regular big people grub in the little food mill, grind it up and watch him make faces at your cooking. (start with things like a cooked green bean or a banana)
It was the handiest, best baby gift anyone eve gave me, and damed if they don't still make the things! Bought one for a baby shower gift not too long ago. I got mine 33 years ago...

Puddle jumping is good times...except when they are in their "dress" clothes. My wife yells every time we get muddy wearing our dress clothes...can't help it...too much fun!

I LOVE playing in the rain, butI hate the way that my hair looks afterwards. Yuck.
When my Kayla was about 3, all she ever wore were rubber boots. No, seriously, that's ALL. I used to have to coral her before she could get out of the house in nothing else...
Ah, good times....
That baby just gets cuter every day. :)

It's raining here too. Captain Corky Jr. has the right idea - just roll over and go to sleep. Smart boy! I wish I'd checked in here first before I went to work.

CRUSTY MOM-E said...

hahah! You have the rain that we just had over the weekend..nanananafoofoo!! :)
I love bassinets..wish my boys were still that little to sleep in one..wish they'd make an adult size version...:)

Just watched a piece on "Louisville" on 20/20 last night about some unsolved murder with two people found in a car..horrifying. Darned domestic disputes.

Always,
Crusty~

cant you just spend hours just watching him sleeping huh. yep nothing nicer than going puddle splashing, but please make sure you wear more than just your wellies (rubber boots) or maybe not if you get a few photos posted ;-)

Gina said...

Oh yeah, jumping in puddles is something that is genetically programmed by the time they start walking. Sometimes even before then.

And we're in a drought. Can you send some rain west?

As s superhero, I am sure that is one of your lesser powers.

Gina said...

Ooops, I meant "As a" not "Ass" although it made me laugh.

Burfica said...

I used to always go out and play in the rain and puddles, and now the lightning has been so bad and so close. Strikes right on our street. Screw that, I stay in during the storms now.

You just try keeping Corky Jr. out of the rain until he's 15!

I loved playing in the rain and mud puddles when I was a kid.

And that kid of yours gets cuter each day!

Man I love the rain.
Of course here in West Texas it drier than a witches twat.

I hate witches twats

If we didn't play in the rain, we'd never play outside because it never STOPS raining here.

Has there been a shortage of rain in Kentucky?

neroli said...

It's raining here too---been since Sunday.
Sleeping in the bassinet: excellent idea.
My solution for my larger boys: steamed dumplings from the Chinese takeout. First smile I've seen today ;-).
Cheers!

OK Corky...REALITY CHECK HERE...if you think for ONE minute that Max isn't gonna wanna run through any puddle he can find you are SERIOUSLY smoking some good weed...once he can walk, he will be alllll over puddles and mud...hee hee hee. You aint seen nothin yet baby!!!

Unknown said...

Very cute picture of Max!

BTW-In reality, isn't Max wet most of the time?

We had a cradle that was similar in size to the bassinet, however it was on a frame and it rocked. My son, just two at the time, would walk past the cradle and when he thought no one was looking he would haul off and give it a good kick. And then run like hell.

He doesn't look like he's too bothered by the rain and thunder in that picture. See, he's already got ice water running through his veins.

lol yeah stop being a baby. or just let this crap pent up and call in saturday night man! you still owe me a show!

captain corky said...

Leslie: Thanks for the advise. I'll definitely keep that in mind. How fast until I can feed him spagettios like that? ;)

Rockdog: LOL! Mud and good clothes go together like crack and hookers.

Biddie: I never really cared for the rain. I love snow though. LOVE IT!

Fiwa: I think it was raining everywhere in the world yesterday. It's humid and nasty today though.

Crustybeef: You must have your cities mixed up... Only good things happen in the magical land of Louisville. ;)

captain corky said...

Her Indoors: I like to watch both of us sleep at the same time. That's always fun. ;)

Gina: The rain is already gone, and the nasty humidity is back. Rats.

Burfica: Yeah, there's some crazy ass lighting here in KY sometimes. Wrath of God type stuff.

Twisted Care Bear: My brain is the epitome of weak mind trying to express itself forcefully.

[Cherry] ride: No pools for Corky Jr either Aquaman!!! Just kidding.

captain corky said...

Pink: I love your world. It's so you.

Whim: Thanks. we'll play in the mud, I'll just bring it into the house. ;)

Blancodeviosa: I've never seen a witches twat up close before. Do they really melt when you pour water on them?

Peggy: There's always a shortage of rain during the Summer in KY. The blue grass is usually yellow by the end of June.

Neroli: I could go for some steamed dumplings, and some Sushi too. I hear good Asian food.

captain corky said...

Canadian Flake: Since when does reality apply to Captain Corky? ;)

Ashley: Thanks. No Max is already potty trained. I just through him in the litter box and a day later he was good to go! ;)

Gawilli: Max hasn't expressed any anger towards the bassinet yet, but give him time. ;)

Keshi: I love Snow, but hate the rain and hail!

Jay: Exactly. I start training them the minute they leave the womb. Even though this is my first kid and it's only been six weeks. ;)

captain corky said...

What a Crock: I know I do, I'll be there soon. ;)

It's raining here too and has been for most of the week.

When he gets older, take him on puddle walks. You put on bathing suits and then rain coats and rain boots, and then splash in every puddle along the way. My brothers and I would do it for hours when we were younger.

Tink said...

I've actually eaten rattlesnake. It was breaded and deep fried, so I didn't have to actually taste it. I remember it being tough and a little stringy. Not my thing. Now alligator tail, mmmmm.

Thanks for the plug brotha!

I want to hold Max so bad...I would always pray for when Donovan went ot sleep so I could have a moment to myself, but then a few minutes after he would fall asleep (looking so damn cute) all I would want to do is pick his cute little ass up again!

Babies are torture sometimes! Good idea not to take him out in the rain...i bet your Dr. would beat your ass silly!

Hey Corky, You can put spaghettios in the grinder and they grind up great! Cheese doodles...not so great.
I'm gonna depend on you to experiment. Wait til you get to the half eaten, baby spit soggy Oreos...yum.
The 5 second rule comes into play here, but on a different, albeit, soggier level.

It's been raining here 23/7 too... that last hour, combined throughout the week, it's been pacing itself...

Oh, and Poland had another tornado... fun! Now I can close my eyes and feel like freaking Dorothy on her way to freaking Oz in the middle of freakig Europe!!! Could you all just PLEASE stop using hairspray and let the hole in the ozon layer patch itself up or something, 'cause I can't take this freaking weather any more!!!!

*sigh*

Every photo of Corky Jr. just gets cuter and cuter.

I've never eaten Rattlesnake, maybe that is what we should throw on the grill next ;)

I wish it would rain here. (sigh)

We're getting the same weather in Philly. And it's my week off.

Molly said...

Is this the end of a dry spell in Louisville? We had rain a lot of here in Indiana; maybe more than our share.

Do you think that you and Corky Jr. will find many rattlesnakes? I understand that there are a few copperheads in Kentucky. Do you have a special recipe for southern fried rattlesnake, and can you use copperheads in place of the rattlers. What I am I saying? Maybe you can stick to chicken, it might be safer. In most states, you can buy chicken at the grocery.

Max is more handsome everyday.

1) I once saw two toddlers fight over a dead rattlesnake that JM shot at the farm--awesome. You should definitely bond with Jr like that.

2) You and your entire family are dead to me if you don't play fantasy football.

3) I refuse to join your fan club--does this mean I am on time out?

i take it back, i'll still be cool with allyson and max if they don't play, but you....

ok, i can't leave this alone. someone wrote:

The ozone layer has nothing to do with climate change. THe ozone layer protects us from UV rays, nothing more, nothing less. Moreover, the hole is largely gone, thanks to the ban on CFC's.

I wonder what Corky Jr's first words will be? Like father like son?

*laughing*
Captain, would you get a dedicated snake-cooking vessel, or would any old chicken fryer do?
Or---snake meat might make for ergonomically good sushi: round shape = easier to roll?
Hmm.
I like the sound of anything fried better: put it on a stick, batter it, and deep fry it---sort of like a corn snake?
*ducking*

Rattlesnake kind of IS like chicken...if you cook it right. Just watch out for the bite. ha ha!

That kid keeps getting cuter EVERY DAY. I can't wait to watch the videos! YAY!
