auld lang syne

Some of you guys might remember this guy as Bo Duke from the Dukes of Hazard. I'm more familiar with some of his later work. In 1999 he stared as Michael Landon in "Michael Landon, the father I knew" written and Directed by Landon's son (obviously trying to cash in on his fathers fame). Despite the script with all of it's vicious lies about the nearly perfect Michael Landon, Bo did I mighty fine acting job in this one. It's always nice to see one those typcasted guys pull out of a 20 year rut.

Then in 2001 Mr. Bo Duke officially lost that moniker for ever when he was casted as Johnathon Kent on Smallville. Now when I look at this actor all I see is Jonathan Kent, and that's a good thing. I have no desire to look at Bo Duke ever again.

Jonathan Kent is one acquaintance I will never forget! How could I? For those of you that don't watch Smallville, Jonathon Kent died in the 100th episode of Smallville on February 2nd 2006. I also got a chance to watch him die in 1979 in "Superman The Movie (Please note that Glenn Ford was playing Pa Kent in Superman The Movie and not the Duke). I've also read countless issues of Superman(the comic books) where Jonathon inevitable dies. My heart can only take so much. One can only wonder how old I'll be the next time I see him die.

I'll be raising a glass to Jonathon Kent on New Years Eve. Your memory lives on through DVD my friend... until you meet your tragic end. Again.

I am a big Dukes fan, but I have never watched Smallville. I loved comic books when I was a kid, but was always more of a Marvel fan.

Wow, I didn't know he was on Smallville. He looks good in that picture. I loved him on Dukes of Hazard, as a kid.
Very interesting.

I am REALLY going to do my best to find Smallville on the TV this week. I always see previews but never got the chance to watch it.

Do we REALLY have to work this week?

Back in 1980 at the tender age of 8, I was fairly convinced of many things, not the least of which, I'd grow up to be Mrs. Bo Duke and/or Mrs. Christopher Reeve and/or Mrs. Rick Springfield.
I've never watched Smallville, I'm more a big fan of comic book lore making its way to the silver screen, but thought his casting as Jonathan Kent was awesome because I think he's a fine actor who deserved a resurgence in his career. Glad to know he embodied the character so well!
Still waiting for those proposals of marriage though....*sigh*

Does insurance cover "gaming addiction?" Seriously. Don't they give you time off for getting a new toy? I'm writing a new "clause" into our company policy: "ALL those who get a new TOY for Christmas are hereby granted the rest of the week off..."

Who's with me?

I liked Bo more than Luke back in the day, but I don't think I could watch the show now. I have never watched smallville and I probably never will.

Did you end up watching the awful movie?

as much as papa kent seemed like a terrifyingly angry man to me, it was still sad when he passed on. he will be missed (...sniffle, ... tear...) - though he can always come back as a ghost again and again.
