Thanksgiving Day 2007
Labor Day seems like it was just yesterday and yet here we are and it's already Thanksgiving Eve Day. It's a very busy day for a lot of Americans. Some people will be driving, some will be flying, some people will be cooking, and cleaning. Me? I'll be watching TV and spanking my bird.
Well... not all day. I still have to go shopping. Yes, I'm one of those assholes who waits until the Day before a holiday to do his grocery shopping. I hope I don't get into a brawl with some senile old lady over the last bag of flower this year.
But what I really want to write about today is how grateful and thankful I am this year. I've said it many times and I'll say it a million more before it's all said and done, this has been the best year of my life. Here's a brief explanation, but I think most of you know who, what, where, and why this has been such a great year for us.
I'm really looking forward to spending tomorrow with my wife and son while we watch the parade and eat cinnamon rolls and drink coffee. Then we cook, and then we go over to Allyson's Mom and Dad's house for food, drink, football, miracle, and expanding.
But while I'm doing all that we'll also be celebrating the official start of the Holiday season here on the log with the traditional Corky's Thanksgiving Day/Weekend Comment Parade. That's right folks, I'm also thankful for all of the wonderful comments I hope to receive. I want to know everything... What are you grateful for? What are you watching on TV? How many drinks have you had? Who's driving you crazy? What's your all time favorite drug? Is the Christmas tree up yet? What are your Thanksgiving traditions? Anything and everything goes!
PS All my friends from other countries and planets are encouraged to celebrate Thanksgiving with Corky and the Gang too. I wouldn't have it any other way. ;)

Have a great holiday! Mine will be interesting....let's see if I survive....
I just can't wait for that turkey and all the fixings. It's not even cooking, but I smell it already.
Have fun on Turkey day. Of course, I just might drop by before heading out to shoot some pool after dinner.
Peace out, Corky.
Karma: Everything will be alright. You have a great holiday too and I'll be checking in with you.
Happy Thanksgiving Cap'n! I love all the *little* kermits underneath him! Great pic!
Thanksgiving came up in a hurry this year! I guess I better go kill a turkey today or we'll just be having nachos and beer for our Thanksgiving feast. Or maybe pizza. Pizza is good!
I wonder if the strip clubs are open on Thanksgiving?
Don't forget to get those petals out of the 'flower' ;-) or flour. It made me giggle and I couldn't resist.
Anyway, happy turkey day corkster. My mother in law has assured me that they have loaded up the house with plenty of adult beverages so that we are all able to survive the two days together. Woot!
You don't want to know where Kermit's inflation nozzle is located.
We got our 1st snow overnight...so everything is white and sorta purdy...I will be back with more comments over the weekend.
Happy FIRST Thanksgiving Max!
Cork & Allyson,
Eat, drink, and be safe!
Eric: I can't wait either! Make sure to stop in often.
Real Live Lesbian: Happy Thanksgiving! And welcome to the family. ;)
Jay: I'm sure the strip joints are open on Thanksgiving. Maybe you could score some coke and then you guys could have coke with your Nachos and beer. That would make for a real down-home Thanksgiving.
Heather: Um... I was just testing you. Good catch. ;)
Have a great Thanksgiving!
Furiousball. LOL. Nope.
Flake: Awesome! Plan on taking any pics?
Nancy: Happy Thanksgiving. Have a great Turkey Day.
Happy Thanksgiving Eve! I'm making a personal pledge to comment at least 20 times. I can do it. I can. I have my nikes on.
lovins,
fiwa
Shoot someone already mentioned you are buying "flower" and not flour, how do you bake with flower and which do you suggest?
Followed your insightful comments from RLL's log, and as you must be a trekkie I was intrigued.
Have a great holiday, and maybe if you ever wanna visit my little chunk of the blogosphere say hi.
Aw thank you so much for the personal invite to us non-Americans. You've made me feel very welcome here. Tomorrow is just a normal day at work for us here in UK, but I do like the idea of thanksgiving, so I might just try to incorporate it into my day somehow.
Ok, seeing as this parade is supposed to last all weekend, I'll come back later to answer some of your questions.
Waiting until the day before to go shopping? That's crazy! I am not going to go fight a bunch of old women over the last can of cranberry sauce. Good luck though.
Oh and have a wonderful Thanksgiving!
Jay...strip clubs are always open. How else are they ever going to be able to "pay off those college loans". I urge everyone to stop in their local strip club...remember, strippers need love too!
Good parade so far, Captain!
Have a good holiday!
Hey, Cork, I'm thankful I'mnot the deer I just hit on the road yesterday - and living a lot more in the present at the moment. I'll see you in the grocery store later today -I also will be figting that old lady - no wait - I AM that little old lady and you aint gettin' my bag of flour, Buster! The Justice League will be all over your ass if you do something so uncivilized!!
A year has gone by already since the last Corkathon? Blimey!
Happy Thanksgiving to you guys!
Fiwa: I look forward to reading all 20 comments. I just love me a team player. ;)
Sassy Lucy: Welcome! I'll be sure to visit. I love making new friends. ;)
Guilty: I'm glad you like coming around and I'm am thankful that we have become such intimate friends. Too bad if we walked past each other in the street we would have no idea who we each other was. LOL
Metal Mark: We made out a live and in once piece, thankfully.
Nikki: That's a lot to be thankful for. Have a great holiday!
Rockdog: Exactly! We should all support the youth of today for a brighter future tomorrow.
QofD: I guess I failed to turn you on with my mental prowess... This time. ;)
Metal Mark: You too man. By the way, two comments gets you an extra helping of pumpkin pie.
TAFKAPW: Just out of curiosity, you're not having deer meat with your Thanksgiving meal are you. ;)
I'm glad you're ok!
Tod: LOL! More like two months.
Thanks pal.
Hey Corky! Looks like I've become a regular visitor - one of the many things I am thankful for, along with dark chocolate in 100 calorie bars, stretch denim and wet t-shirt contests. Oh, and I'm thankful that I am not a turkey!
Happy Thanksgiving!
I think that I will watch the parade tomorrow. Unless it's on at 1:00, b/c I have other stuff to do. Otherwise, I'm there. I love Santa. I do, I admitt it.
I hope baby has a wonderful first thanksgiving! We having over 12 people over tomorrow. It is really stressing me out!
Did some one say wet t-shirt contest or is my hearing starting to go???
i will be joining you in the AM cinnamon roll/ coffee tradition.
happy turkey day
Have a GREAT turkey day. I plan on taking some pics of the food not the process though because well...I'm lazy. I'm already pissed...I fucked up the pumpkin pie. I made the filling while I was on the phone and added an extra 1/4 tsp of clove and forgot the salt. I hope my guests LOVE clove. hehe. I'll drown it in fresh whipped cream...that oughtta do it. :)
I have to say...the flower made me laugh too. :)
I miss Kermit...he was a good balloon. I have to share one more thing...I grew up 2 blocks from where they blow the balloon up for the parade so every year I had to go and watch...OMG THE CROWDS. I have nightmares just thinking of it. It's so much nicer to watch on tv. ;)
Dana: Welcome to the family! I'm definitely thankful for wet t-shirt contents too.
Biddie: I Hope everyone gets a chance to check out your Christmas village. I showed it to Allyson as soon as she came into the room.
Myutopia: Thanks. That's a lot of work for you! Make everyone else do everything while you sit on the couch and enjoy yourself.
Rockdog: I think I heard the same thing. ;)
Ms. Tuesday: Sounds good! You guys have a great day too.
Bonnie Blue: I don't know what happened. Usually my spelling is right on pointe!
I grew up 20 minutes from the city and every year we vowed to make it in for the parade, but never did. One day though. ;)
Oh Corky...DON'T go to the parade! It's a HUGE mass of people. It's awful...but I also hate the Macy's fireworks. I'm not one of huge crowds. So much better on TV. Or if you can go to someone's place and see everything from there. That's fun. Someone's roof for the fireworks and someone on Central Park West's window for the parade. That's the way to do it.
Bonnie Blue: My friend owns a place in Brooklyn and we've watched the fireworks up there for New Years and the 4th of July. It was amazing both times, but DC is the best for fireworks on the 4th of July. Plus, I always spend a couple of hours at the Smoke In when I'm in DC on the 4th. ;)
One of these days I will be in New York for the parade. I don't care if it's not as good as that film. I know I will love it. :)
I've never done the 4th in DC but I've done memorial day and that's a blast.
Tod...enjoy the parade if you get here but make sure you take a bottle of Valium or xanax first.
Well, I'm back for the second day in a row, does that officially make me a stalker? *hoping!*
Anyswho.... our traditions are as follows.... watch the parade and cook as LITTLE as possible!!
::cheers::
YAY al Capitan:)
Well I am grateful for a family that loves me.
I dont watch much TV...sorry:(
Today no drinks.
Who drives me crazy...my apparent soulmate that is nowhere to be found...whahahaha.
Xmas tree goes up 1 Dec.
No thanksgiving traditions...:(
Thanks for visiting my blog and the comforting words, appreciated al Capitan.
Keep safe.
HUGZZZZZ
Well over here in London I'm spending Thanksgiving eve watching the England v Croatia football (soccer) game and caring if England wins and makes it into the European cup.
I had goats cheese and vegetable salad for dinner.
I've become a European :(
(Gasp!)
xx
pinks
All this talk from my US bloggie friends has inspired a very fierce craving for gravy... not a good thing.
Wow that sounds like a LOT of fun. I will participate as long as I can. I've got driving to do tomorrow.
I hope I am online here when you see the Hitler balloon. Apparantly they added one to the parade route this year. Your commentary upon sighting it would make it that much better.
Thank you Corky.
I was wondering how I was going to get through Thanksgiving with the crazies. Now I know. A good old fashion comment parade.
I wanted to say something about flower, alas I was at work. Also, I get paid on Wednesdays. Guess what day I had to shop? It wasn't as bad as I thought. My brother was working at the store though and he said he had to stock the stove top stuffing things every 20 minutes.
my dad used to make his own stuffing. Who says dressing and who says stuffing? I think my dad said dressing.
someone else has my same name. cool for them. I'm the one with a picture of ghost rider though.
I'm just posting because I should be baking something and I don't know if I'll be online tomorrow to post.
I am back again to see how the comment parade is coming along..lol. I posted some pretty pics on my blog of the white stuff we got...we are getting a lot more tonight and I am thinking there will be no school tomorrow...got some booze I can have? LOL.
I'm back. I cooked ALLLLLLLL day!
Phew...I'm BEAT! More to go tomorrow. Hope everyone is enjoying the long weekend so far!
#2. I'm almost finished with my Thanksgiving cooking! Everything is assembled, all I have to do tomorrow is cook it all. Woohoo!
Hey Corky,
I am taking a break right now. I have baked corn bread for the stuffing, set the table, swept and vaccumed, started a squash soup, and had three glasses of wine. I'm still thirsty, though. I plan to watch the parade and the national dog show. I am thankful for wine and for my sweet family and friends. Happy Thanksgiving!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Corky...be safe..and happy and most of all have fun!!!
Happy Thanks giving!
I only know about it from watching Friends!
Awesome stuff, what a wonderful time
Tod: That's a good goal. I still wouldn't mind going one time. But it would only be worth it if I could get a front row seat. Plus, I would bring something to nurse on. ;)
Bonnie Blue: I try to take a bottle of valium or xanax every where I go. I never leave home without the stuff!
Ok... That may not be completely true. ;)
Leighann: I love being stalked. Being stalked is one of things that makes life worth living. I've been stalked many times. I only cook one part of the meal, the mashed potatoes. Yum!
Etain: Great to hear from and I hope to see pics of that tree. You keep safe too. :)
Pink: People who eat goats cheese and vegetable salad on Thanksgiving Day here in American are subject to deportation. Good thing that you're in England eating that stuff. ;)
Princess: Lots of salt consumed on Thanksgiving Princess. And Sugar and spice and everything nice. Um... yeah. ;)
Kat: Glad you're going to be here for some of the fun! Curious.
Har: I like to be here for my friends when they need me most. ;)
Nikki: I was surprised about the shopping too. It really wasn't that bad, but I did go early and they are open today until 5. That might have something to do with it.
I'm pretty sure we say stuffing, but I don't eat it anyway. I'm not a big stuffing guy.
Also, there might be one or two other Captain Corky's out there, but they all seem to own boats. ;) Hope to see you later. Have a great Turkey day.
Flake: I need to check out lots of blogs today. Good thing it's only 5:30 AM right now. LOL
Bonnie: It bet it smells really good over at your place right now. I'm loving it so far.
Fiwa: You up yet? LOL
Professor J: I'm thankful for wine too, and beer and vodka, and... ;) Have a great Thanksgiving and have a glass for me.
Jamie: Thank you very much. So far it's perfect. I've only been up for a couple of minuets though. ;)
Casdok: It's a blast. Hopefully some day you can come to the states and celebrate with us. ;)
Cazzie: This holiday would be right up your ally!
I'm hungry already.
Har: Me too. ;)
Your posts always make me laugh and smile and you inspire me...
you go daddy!! Happy first Gobbles to Max...is he gonna get to pull the wishbone?
Cinnamon rolls and coffee..see? inspiration..I'm off to do my morning "read" and than to the store for my last minute things (as well) along with an added item-cinnamon pillsbury rolls..to begin the start of our Hello kitty super girl cape watching Macy's..
Look for the legally Blond cast..they're costumes are locked up on the other side of the picket line, therefore improv is needed.
Always,
Crusty
Thanks to you!! :)
Okay:
I love Beer with Football, the smells of the turkey, the kids happily playing on the floor..The anticipation of the corn casserole, or awesome stuffing, the liver,..weed would be my all time favorite drug..probably because that's all I had ever tried..except that one time..when I was 20-YIKES!! Bad mistake..
but I love thanksgiving..the excitment in the air..something about it..
HAppy gobbles to your better half, your adorable growing genetic half and to you. :)
Always,
Crusty
Crusty: It sounds like Thanksgiving is going to be amazing over at your place. Thanks for the kind words and the warm wishes. :)
happy thanksgiving.
tonight, after i finish cooking & cleaning, i am watching my most favorite holiday movie, love actually. i bet you would totally get full service if you pick it up at target. i just got it for $6.50.
Dawn: My wife and I love that movie. Me and the Birdman do a piece on it every year on our blogs. I called one of my posts a piece... do I take myself to seriously? LOL
Happy Thanksgiving!
Abbagril74: Thank you. Same to you and your family. :)
The day is starting off just right. It's 43 degrees outside and won't get much warmer today.
Perfect.
I've fed Max once already and then he went back to sleep. I don't know about you guys but I'm really hungry and want my coffee and rolls, but I'm going to let Allyson sleep for another half hour. I'm just that kind of guy.
I'm very happy with the way things have gone around here on the log yesterday and today considering how many people are off doing their Thanksgiving thing. Plus, I've made a couple of new friends and strengthened some other friendships, which is very cool and what this is really all about.
It's good to hear your Thanksgiving is starting off just right! We woke up to snow and 32 degrees in Chicago!
Happy Thanksgiving!!
Dana: Awesome! How much did it snow?
Children are washed and mom is happy. Which is a good thing. "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."
So I am thankful the girls were in cooperation "mode." this morning.
i am so thankful that I don't have to cook.
Har: "If momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy."
Funny, that same rule applies here! I need to get into the shower while everyone still sleeps.
The pies are in the oven signaling the start of the Turkey Day cook-off! We are so looking forward to this four day holiday - especially the part where we don't have to go to work. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving, Corky! I will enjoy my family and I know you will do the same!
#3 Happy Thanksgiving! We are having cinnamon rolls too, once my spouse gets up. And it's below freezing here - there's ice in the bird bath.
to answer your questions sir: i am grateful for your blog :)
the tv is not on, though i'm sure later will be football
no drinks yet (it's 10 am), though i have been up for two hours, so i should start in about 30 minutes or so
no one's awake and i'm not spending the holiday with the fam so no one is driving me crazy, yet that is ;)
makers mark is my fave drug, but if you're speaking of the illegal kind i have no idea what you are talking about whatsoever
no christmas tree yet, though my sis is taking off monday and tuesday to decorate so that means the entire house will be covered with lights
we're no longer upholding tradition.
We've only got about an inch on the ground so far, but rumor has it there is more on the way!
Will someone send me their Thanksgiving smells? We are eating out today ...
Next phase of the operation, clean up around here before we leave.
I hate this part. BUT it is worse coming home to a messy house.
I'm so glad that it is beautiful weather here in NY. Friends are at their 20th year of going to the Macy's Day Parade in NYC.
It is always so nice for the family when the weather is nice.
Especially the kids on the side of the road who can hit by one of those floats if the wind is intense.
Gawilli: This is the first year I'm off on the day after Thanksgiving in 7 years! I'm pretty pumped about that. Happy Thanksgiving!
Fiwa: Sweet. Allyson and Max are up and the rolls are cooking and the coffee is brewing. The parade in on and i've decided to go with CBS. Doogie Howser is one of the side line reporters.
Erika: You... Football?!? Looks like there's a God after all. Can I come over and watch your sister set up the lights? I like watching your sister in action.
Allyson is having Thanksgiving Morn coffee out of the mug you made her and I'm having mine out of the snowman mug I bought at Target for 3 bucks.
Dana: I wish it were snowing here! I won't have the full smell until 3 or 4, but coffee is a great start.
Har: I've been doing a lot of cleaning here lately. Especially bottle and bib washing.
Har: I'm watching and they say it's close to 60. Crazy. I'm glad it's much colder here. Much more appropriate for today.
Happy Thanksgiving to you Corky, the missus and Corky Jr.!
-Rick
I don't know how much longer I'll be able to take the broadcasters though. I may have to put my TV on Mute for the next hour and half.
Palm Srings Savant: Thanks from all of us, and you have a happy Thanksgiving too.
Happy Thanksgiving, lovey!
I'm thankful for my stubble free armpits.
Good morning...
Snow...pfft...it's a sunny 65 degrees here in NYC. I don't get it. Oh well...
Turkey's in the oven and ready to go. I forgot 1 damned thing at the supermarket so I have to go back which I didn't want to do. Think the place'll burn down if I leave the turkey unattended while I go? I hope not.
Hope everyone who's celebrating Thanksgiving is having a good one.
Corky, Max gonna have his first turkey? or is solid food a bit advanced?
43 degrees? it's only 25 here! I am kinda glad I'm inside baking. I should have done this last night. Oh well, I can smell pumpkin cheesecake RIGHT NOW!
Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family, hope Max enjoys his first thanksgiving.
and thank you for inviting us to join in your celebrations.
I am thankful for my pc without it i would never have met so many great blogging buddies!
just opened a bottle of bud, which will lead to another and another, nowt wrong with that then!
eat drink and be meryy x
Bottleblonde: Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I bet they smell like roses too. ;)
Bonnieblue: He's eating rice and fruit right now. Not ready for Turkey just yet, but before I know it he;ll be going to town on the stuff, just like his old man. It's too warm in NY.
Nikki: Sweet! I bet it smells amazing at your place.
Her Indoors: I'll be having my Budweiser very soon. ;)
Gobble gobble...I am thankful to be an American living in Canada which means I get to celebrate Thanksgiving TWO TIMES... woot woot. Double the stuffing, double the fun.
And plus? I am thankful for lots of stuff...Happy Thanksgiving, Corky.
YAY...I didn't burn the house down!
But...driving back from the supermarket I passed a gas station and I was at a red light and there was a fire at the gas station. I thought I was gonna explode. I didn't though. Gas station is NOT the place for a fire.
Is it turkey time yet?
Corky, how are you dealing with your tv dilemma?
Dilling: Two Thanksgivings are definitely better than one, but this one is turning out to be a pretty good one. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family.
Bonnie blue: It's always a good thing when you don't burn down the house.
We're not eating for at least another two hours and I'm HUNGRY!
The Packers games is pretty good as of right now and Miracle hasn't started yet so I don't know what I'm going to do... ;)
I'm grateful for being able to leave comments about things I'm grateful for. Ask Spock. He'll understand.
Hi Corky! Happy Thanksgiving!
#4 At the last minute I changed my mind and made Cheryl's pineapple bake instead. It's like pineapple bread pudding - YUM. Oh, and coffee... I forgot how gooooood coffee tastes. I'm going to be in pain later tonight. :)
I am actually enjoying the day so far. Turkey yet?
I had to stop and get coffee at Dunkin Donuts as per a request.
Hazelnut coffee. I don't drink coffee but it smells yummy.
Cork!
Hope your Thanksgiving has been all you hoped for! :)
We here at the casa....that being 8 humans and 6 canines...are all well fed and resting now.
*sigh*
Happy Thanksgiving Corky, Being the boring non-drinker, I have had zero alcoholic drinks. The hubby and I are having a relatively quiet day at home. We did have three lovely offers of festivities elsewhere, but our traveling is currently curtailed.
I hope that your day has been fabulously filled with food, football, and family.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Wearing my elastic waist "buffet pants", and getting ready for the pies...
HAPPY TURKEY DAY... I see the comments have topped 100...I popped over to see what I have missed. I watched "Miracle.." today on NBC in your honour...we trekkies have to stick together..lol.
I never want to see food again...
you put up these shameful requests for comments every few months...how does it work EVERY TIME?!?!
A really great day. I hope you, your wife and Corky Jr. had the same. Bring on Saint Nick.
lets see, tell you about how my thanksgiving is going so far. Okay well Wed we went to our first of four dinners. At my friends house. We had turkey....
and stuffing.....
mashed potatoes.....
asparagus.....
home made cranberry sauce.....
I don't like cranberry sauce, but I like this.....
and carrot raisin salad....
Then pumpkin pie.
Today, which is Thursday, we cleaned house and made more food, then we went to my husbands, sisters, husbands parents house, for a huge get together.
we had turkey and ham.....
stuffing......
mashed potatoes.....
candied yams.....
rolls.....
fruit salad.....
deviled eggs.....
veggie tray......
Your son drinks coffee and eats rolls? He must go through a lot of diapers.
pickle tray... with about 5 types of pickles, pickled olives, mushrooms, and peppers.....
Then came the pies.....
I made pumpkin and cream cheese pie.....
There was also chocolate.....
apple.....
coconut cream....
and mincemeat....
Then they taught us how to play Mexican Train domino game.
fun fun times.....
now tomorrow is another dinner, and saturday, so I'll be cooking more.
I'll be back, feel warned.
I knew there was a reason for me to be wide awake in the middle of the night...to comment during your comment-a-thon.
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving. What's Jr. thankful for this year?
Happy Thanksgiving weekend CC.
It's Friday, the boss has the day off and I'm eating a Mars Bar and reading blogs instead of working.
It feels pretty festive here today too :)
I hope you and your family had a great Thanksgiving Corky! :)
Dan: Glad to see and hear from you Dan! Hope you had a great Thanksgiving.
Fiwa: There's nothing more perfect than a cup of coffee with a taste treat. ;)
Har: I ate like a horse yesterday. It was glorious.
Birdman33: You have a black soul my friend. The good news is that there's still time left for salvation. Through Corky and Corky's log you will learn to love yourself and your fellow bloggers.
Har: I love Dunkin Donuts coffee and live on the stuff when I'm in NJ.
Big Pissy: It was really good and I ate enough for four. ;) It sounds like you guys did plenty of eating and celebrating. Enjoy the rest of this holiday weekend. ;)
MJD: Lots of football, food and family. It was a lot of fun. :) Glad you guys got to have a nice peaceful day.
Leslie: LOL Sounds like a good plan. I need to get me a couple pairs. ;)
Flake: I hope you enjoyed it! Do you think those bastards at NBC will give me some kind of kick back or something for getting people to watch Miracle? I doubt it... bastards!
Bonnie Blue: I felt that way last not, but oddly enough I want to do it all again today. LOL
Good Morning Corky,
You are not shopping this morning?
Hey Corky, thanks for the Roll Call spot! I've decided the only bad thing about eating at a Thanksgiving buffet is the fact that there aren't any leftovers! I could really use a turkey, stuffing and cranberry sauce sammich for breakfast!
Birdman: These are no longer "shameful requests." This is a holiday tradition in the making. Just like a family puts up a Christmas tree or mistletoe, Corky has a comment-a-thon. Feel free to leave as many comments as you like. Join in on the comradery and friendship. We welcome you with open arms. ;)
Har: It was a great day, can't wait for Saint Nick!
Burfica: Glad to see you! Four dinners?!? Now we're talking! I'm hungry again, let's eat!!!
Cheryl: Anytime is a great time to comment. Jr is grateful for having a dad that likes toys even more than he does. LOL How was your Thanksgiving?
DJ Kirkby: Thank you my friend. You do the same. ;)
Tod: That's a great way to spend the day working if you ask me.
We did Tod, thanks.
MJD: Good morning. No shopping for us on the day after Thanksgiving. I usually do mine the first week of December after I get my Christmas bonus at work. :)
Dana: I'm craving Turkey too, and I didn't bring and like a fool I didn't bring any left overs home. Rats.
Rats.
No shopping for us either, my husband and I actually enjoy shopping on Christmas Eve morning.
Did you put up your Christmas tree and other decorations?
MJD: Normally we do on Thanksgiving, but not this year. I think we're going to put up our tree on Christmas Eve this year.
When I was very young, my parents used to put up the tree on Christmas Eve. I really liked that custom. I can remember my father buying a tree on a Christmas Eve; we took the tree home on a wagon as we did not have a car.
#5 I am never cooking another bird that big again. What a pain-in-the-ass. But it sure was good. I watched Miracle with you.
I am very grateful that my son is growing up into a fine young man. I am proud of him.
I am also grateful that the Chicago Bears got into the Superbowl last year and this year got rid of that miserable quarterback.
Enjoy your weekend.
Well I survived Thanksgiving! How bout you?
But I'm kind of late to the commenting party.
So I'll make up for it by commenting several times today.
And tomorrow too!
In between watching football, drinking, eating and shopping.
Of course, I'll be on the road Sunday. But, Sunday night I'll be back to participating in the comment party.
But now I gotta go to the beer store. We're getting dangerously low on beer. Can't have that!!!!
I think I've done my fair share of commenting now. I hate not carrying my share of the load!
good evening
its tea time on the menu is Pizza, well it will be if i move away from the computer to put it in the oven!
so will be back
ok pizza in the oven be ready in 20 mins
you want a slice?
with some Bud to wash it down of course
or are you to stuffed with Turkey?!
hey did Max enjoy his first Thanksgiving Day?
okay it's almost 11 this morning. I got a late start....
Sent Gigantor down at 5 this morning to get jeans on sale at walmart.....
Hey the sale was only till 9, and I wasn't about to crawl my ass out of bed.....
He had to be in to work at 6 anyway, so he was up.....
jeans for only 8 bucks a pair, whoooohoooo, got him three and kiddo 2 pairs....
He forgot to buy me a pack of underwear like I asked though.....
grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr......
I got up and Kiddo helped me with a couple more pumpkin pies.....
Have them in the oven right now.....
Took a break to come comment before I whip up the two cold salads.....

Happy Thanksgiving! I'm grateful for cool blogs like yours!
WORK is driving me crazy.
I haven't had any drinks yet today but you can bet your ASS I'm having several when I finally get the hell out of here today.
I think my all time favorite drug is weed. Percoset runs a close 2nd, though...
MJD: That's pretty wild that you guys didn't have a car. I look forward to reading about more of your family's Christmas traditions and history.
Fiwa: I'm so mad at myself for not taking some Turkey home with me from last night. Biggest mistake I've made this year. ;)
Enemy: With all the insanity that goes on in this world it's nice to hear that your son is doing well. I pray we do a good job with our son.
Jay: Glad to see you today! Can't have anyone running low on beer. Especially with all the football yet to be played.
Her: I was stuffed last night but now I'm hungry for more Turkey, and mashed potatoes, and mac-n-cheese and green beans and of course, beer. ;)
Max had a blast!
Burfica: We had turkey, mashed potatoes, pumpkin Pie, pecan pumpkin pie, mac-n-cheese, stuffing, green beans with pinto beans, rolls, and beer. Lots of beer. ;)
Enjoy all the great food tonight and tomorrow!
Jerrster: Thanks man. Your blog kicks ass too. Lots more to come. ;)
MJD: We're definitely moving along. I like it!
Lady K: It sucks that you had to work today. This is the first time I've been off in 7 flippin years. It's nice. I hope you had a great Thanksgiving!
Wow...people have been busy here.
Glad everyone had a nice Thanksgiving. I had a great time but the caesar salad I made was gross. Never using that recipe for dressing again. (it was supposed to be the original recipe...whatever) My friend gave me a recipe for cornbread that had bacon, cheese and creamed corn in it...YUM. Turkey was great, pies were great, sweet potatoes great...oh and stringbeans...
I also put a bottle of white wine in the freezer to chill...forgot about it...remembered at 4am...it froze and the cork popped out...oops.
Today is a day of rest. Screw the shopping...I'd become homicidal if I went out today.
While you all have fun decorating for Christmas, I'll be cleaning the wax out of the menorah from last year. Fun times...lol.
its now bed time for me so i wish you good night x
sweet dreams
Christms shopping? With over a month left before it has to be under the tree?? I think not!
well I'm back for a tiny bit.....
I went to make the poofoo, which is one tub whip cream, one pack of cherry jello, stir that up, add one tub of cottage cheese, then a can of drained pineapple chunks.....
My son was helping me, and I was stiring and he opened the cottage cheese to dump it in, and it had greed pieces in it.....
come to find out my husband had bought cottage cheese with chives......
